Besides the business reasons I've given for selecting Mr. Jones for this job, I'll state that his music selection is appropriately boring. It's music I wouldn't listen to WFMU for for most purposes, but it makes sense for people waking up & getting going at this time in this time zone.

Even his Sun. afternoon show, I don't listen to for the music. It's comfort music, but mostly I don't need that type of comfort. I time my tuning in for his & Burnsy's 1st mic break. And that mic break is entirely different from his mic breaks here; he has the morning mood figured out.

What'll be interesting is if Jonesy's DJing the morning show during the marathon, the timing of how the pledges will show up. It would be irresponsible or unfair to ask an audience that's in cars to pledge RIGHT NOW FOR THIS PREMIUM. Nachum did it pretty much premium-free IIRC.

But what's wrong w discussing things here from a biz POV? A lot of us are very much into it as consumers, & would like to think about things from the other side.

It's like after I was coaching children in football for a few years, I wasn't interested any more in being a mere spectator. After I'd been making my own fireworks for a while, it was no longer fun to shoot commercial works.

So, I'm actually not clear on this Morning DJ tryout stuff. Is there SUPPOSED to be listener feedback (email to Ken?)? I'm guessing in the end, this is Ken's call, he'll graciously accept and respond to feedback (I sent him one email, got a quick, nice reply), but the buck stops with him.
