Listener comments!

  3:37pm Al:

Watching the New Jersey Giants on TV, but listening to the real rock & roll.
  3:46pm Paul D:

Cold sunday out there
Avatar 3:46pm Mailman Tom:

The Sparkletones hit paydirt with this one
  3:49pm Paul D:

Was the glen jones show not on today
  3:53pm Smelly Old Hobo:

Paul D.: Jim the Poet filled in for Jonesy today.
  3:58pm DaveinPA:

Would be interesting to find out when the 'music agent smoking the big cigar and driving flashy car' trope started...
  4:11pm Al:

@Dave: My guess would be with the rise of the independent record labels after World War II.
  4:17pm Al:

I actually enjoyed the Peppermint Rainbow record. It's good to hear a little Sunshine Pop on a blustery, cold day.
  4:20pm Paul D:

Ah thanks hobo
  4:21pm commie hippie:

"Peppermint Rainbow were discovered by Mama Cass. Their lead singer, Bonnie Lambdin Phipps, is now President and CEO of St. Agnes Medical in Baltimore" . . . Giants won
  4:31pm middlebun:

Always sneaks in some recent stuff to prove he is not square.
  4:33pm Josh:

So good! So fine!
  4:44pm andrew:

4:42 tell me who this is. great show obviously.
  4:48pm commie hippie:

Ya mean the greatest record of all time,
Angels "My Boyfriend's Back"
single w/o the the musical interlude
  4:52pm andrew:

no the one before that
  4:52pm Al:

Bill said the band was the Darths. He posts his playlist after the show.
  4:54pm andrew:

Take Back What I Need - The Darts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm foofs:

Oh wow. Beautiful. Horace Andy's version of Bless You is (also) celestially perfect.
  4:59pm andrew:

the "darths" is a pretty funny band name if you think about it.
  4:59pm Al:

Could've been Star Wars fans...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx DJ BK !
  6:58pm dj:

Nicole Lawrence (Love Me Nots) is the Darts' vocalist. She's also a very hot municipal court judge in Arizona when not singing in bands. I can think of at least two funny, but untoward remarks that are better left unsaid
  8:24am commie hippie:

Surprised to learn "Will You Be Staying After Sunday" wasn't Spanky and Our Gang . . . . Mascots - "Words Enough to Tell You" is a forgotten hit pulled from deep in my memories recesses . . . . "But It's Alright" was re-released and climbed the charts again when J.J. Jackson signed with Warner in 1969 - have the promo; hmm, $14 on Discogs. Hmm, Brooklynite recorded the song in England, but Callo is a NYC label. (Also have the Star Wars theme promo, 45 second version not listed on Discogs.)
  8:38am commie hippie:

"J.J. Jackson lives in Jacksonville"
  11:31am commie hippie:

Fun sounds, "Oh Gee Oh Golly" Earl Nelson and the Pelicans, and "Black Slacks" - Joe Bennett & The Sparkletones . . . . My recording of Rick Wakeman's King Arthur album on cassette, from 1975, varies from that online today
  2:50pm commie hippie:

Hmm: Angels started at 4:4250 says playlist
  7:31am untoward remark hippie:

The Darts
Municipal judge, you say
Doing a Trashwomen cover
