Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 21, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

annie i agree. i was very cynical about tv in general. i knew the commercials were lying and thought the new cartoons were not funny and therefore what's the point?
the older ones with personified animals were generally much better.

UM, our station's news director recently retired and she had hoarded years and years of Ad Council CDs in her office. So, when she finally retired, we played as many of them as possible, many at the same time, over the air in tribute to her.

Guido! Rich!

@Rich: I like trivia like that. Especially the part about Coven being satanists, didn't know that.

I impress by walking through the living room and rattling off the names of the non-starring actors on-screen. Mileaege varies.

Me too, coelacanth. So much of it is pointless trivia that no one but me cares about.

Hate the devil, children, frowners never win:

Religiously indoctrinated cartoon infants Pebbles & Bamm Bamm covered songwriter Stuart Hamblin's chipmunked family-sung 1955 hit in the September 17, 1965 Flintstones episode, “No Biz Like Show Biz.” In 1934 Hamblin was American Decca's first artist after the label's war split from British Decca. A popular LA deejay, singing cowboy Hamblin is attributed with propelling Billy Graham's crusades, started in 1947, to critical mass in 1949 by permitting him to come on his show - because Hamblin's father was a minister. Hard drinking, hard living Stuart Hamblin's Christian conversion by Billy Graham followed. Hamblin ran against Eisenhower as Temperance movement presidential candidate. Recording artists Rebecca Page sang as Pebbles and her mom Ricky as Bamm Bamm. They were managed by dad/husband/record producer/songwriter George Motola.
