A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@sphere - not *that* risky but ever since Steve went on the the great beyond, early releases have had a bit of excitement around them... (oh and can I just take this opportunity to express my deeply and heartfelt opinion that iTunes now really sucks and it is time for a replacement. If I didn't have to work for a living I would take that on...)

This isn't limited to the USA. In the Philippines, they elected a member of the elite who claims to be a law-and-order anti-elitist (sound familiar?) who whips up fear about drug pushers & users (though the actual rate of drug use is about the same as anywhere else) and now they have police death squads executing alleged dealers in the street (i.e. whoever the police feel like summarily executing). And that guy keeps getting good poll numbers! Sad.

musique concrete is cited as the beginning but i say "jazz"! done live and on records, players picked pieces and looped and integrated those bits into unrelated songs so effortlessly you didn't know it was happening unless you knew the riff
