	10:51am Trouble: when i say i didn't listen to music this summer, that is of course hyberbolic. my husband listens to music constantly so i am hearing his choices. I meant that I wasn't drawn to playing music as much as i was doing other things.

	11:00am annie: oh, trouble! i'm settling in to learn portuguese! a couple of lessons so far on Duolingo, it's a free website. very easy to use and it's ok to go back and review lessons. i find it VERY user-friendly

	11:36am Parq: Adrian, Duo is great if you want to learn the language in some depth, but not so hot if you're looking for quick and dirty tourist language updates. I found that out preparing for my trip to Poland. No, I said, I really don't think I need to learn how to say "The girl drinks all the milk" for my trip.
	11:38am tiago: sorry but 'o menino fala o tubarao' does not make sense in Portuguese: 'fala com o tubarao' (speaks with the shark) or 'fala do tubarao' (speaks about the shark)
	11:39am Adrian in London: @Parq. I did Dup Portuguese for a couple f months before I went it it was amazing how much I was able to pick up. I'm deep into German at the moment, which I did at school. So much is still deep in my memory.

She has a talent for language -- the sort who thinks her French is "weak" because she can discuss French lit only at an undergraduate level, not doctoral. Me, I went from a first-semester A to a third-semester mercy C in high school German, so I'm lucky if I can get "yes, no, please, thank you, where is the subway" down when I'm of to a foreign clime.

She has a talent for language -- the sort who thinks her French is "weak" because she can discuss French lit only at an undergraduate level, not doctoral. Me, I went from a first-semester A to a third-semester mercy C in high school German, so I'm lucky if I can get "yes, no, please, thank you, where is the subway" down when I'm of to a foreign clime.
