After ranting on the SF Gate board about the Giants' horrid closing pitcher. eh

Mark R:

Don't talk to me about closers, I'm a Tigers fan.

It hasn't escaped my notice that Kim Shattuck is 53 today. Perfect for me, aside from the fact that she's a Dodgers fan. I was a Dodgers fan in the '60s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34am
pacific standard simon:

I hit 60 on Thursday. Call me, Kim. Your guitar rocks me hard.
  3:35am
Mark R:

Kim just played a show at Monty Hall last night. I guess they've got one more show on Philly and then it's on home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37am
pacific standard simon:

I would have been there if I weren't pacific.
  3:38am
Mark R:

They were also on Todd's show yesterday if you're motivated to listen in the archives...

Joe Morello is pretty much my favorite jazz drummer ever. Maybe aside from Billy Higgins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am
pacific standard simon:

And Frankie Dunlop. Those are my three.
  3:44am
Tommy:

Love this show
  3:44am
Mark R:

All good choices. Frankie played with Monk, right?
  3:45am
Mark R:

Thank you, Tommy. We're going to have a lot of older tunes tonight, if that's alright with you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45am

Yup.

My house-mates are camping tonight! Good night to crank it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am
pacific standard simon:

Frankie Dunlop did the early Columbia Monk recordings. Billy Higins did a bunch of old Ornette recordings, and most of the Sandy Bull recoords.
  4:00am
Mark R:

He also recorded one of my favorite albums ever, "Mister Billy Higgins," in the 70s, with a song on it called, interestingly enough, "John Coltrane."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03am
pacific standard simon:

That I did not know. Will look it up.

Lotta good actor birthdays, today. Not so many musicians.

I somehow can't picture Iggy throwing rocks at his bandmate's window. It sounds like something out of an Ozzie and Harriet episode!
