	10:01am Cecile: Who I really, really love is Chado Ralph Rucci. Rucci's deal is that everthing is bespoke, handmade, and a wearable piece of art. If I won the powerball, I would commission a jacket right away. Comme is great! I also love the Belgians - Martin Margiela, Anne DeMullemeester, Dries van Noten. And I also love Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors because they make pretty big girl clothes.

I'd guess most of us heard most of what we heard of The Beatles on crappy sound systems: close-and-play turntables, transistor radios, etc. I bet a pristine record played on a decent sound system would turn heads.

(i.e. "i'm down" and " long tall sally"...and "kansas city hey hey"...one of the worst songs ever recorded by anyone!)

	11:52am Jeff: Speaking of songs which break your brain in a way which ends up having a lasting effect: that's what happened the first time I heard The Shaggs on the radio (probably in 1979). I initially HATED them - the song (My Pal Foot Foot, I think) seemed wrong in every possible way, and even kind of threateningly, corrosively wrong - but I couldn't stop thinking about the song, and what it was about it that annoyed me so. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And eventually I embraced it, and the power of how its "off" timing resonated where it collided with my expectations.

And I also love Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors because they make pretty big girl clothes.

I initially HATED them - the song (My Pal Foot Foot, I think) seemed wrong in every possible way, and even kind of threateningly, corrosively wrong - but I couldn't stop thinking about the song, and what it was about it that annoyed me so. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And eventually I embraced it, and the power of how its "off" timing resonated where it collided with my expectations.
