Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from March 4, 2016 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hello Lane, tough ride?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm

Actually Steve, maybe it is...and I was thinking of Bruce Thomas' book.

THanks Lane. I found the websites, one for the Pedal Steel Guitars, and one for the Super Slide, but could not find a section about their history.

This Skynyrd song was written to be performed at an industry party. Can you believe that shit?
Avatar 2:30pm
chromaphone:

I guess no one will be writing songs like these anymore since the music recording industry is dead.

I hope Ronnie's grim specter haunts the fakes going around with his band's name.

Did you play Spoon's version of this theme last week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm

@chromaphone: Nowadays they'd have to be about iTunes, Spotify, Google/YouTube, etc.

My dad has started watching HBO's "Vinyl." I haven't seen it but I'm helping by providing him footnotes for the era.

Van Morrison's contractual obligation album would fit into today's program, sort of...

It's a smooth ride now, Brian. Bonehead cost me 3.5 hours earlier. Last night's ISIHAC was brilliant. One song to the tune of another: Sometimes When We Touch to Scotland the Brave and Bob the Builder to Girl From Ipanema.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Uncle Michael:

Jeff, I layed the b-side last week.

"contractual obligation" is its own theme.

RADIO ON!

It seems like right when the industry was peaking is when the most complaint songs appeared. I think the amount of money being bickered over now is much less. Hopefully Talyor Swift will write something about it... not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm

The Bang Obligation sessions partake of both themes in part, no? Royalty Check, Have a Danish?

Alex In Illinois:

I had an idea about a decade or so ago, when I had one of those early large mp3 players made by "Creative" that recorded in mp3 and uncompressed wave file format. My idea was to digitally record concerts for unsigned bands, make mp3's of their songs, and sell their songs for them directly to fans from a web site.
