what does it mean when you try to favorite a song and the star spins and doesn't turn yellow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Daniel Blumin:

Hallo nashville dave and Dave in Vermont! The latter Dave, I think it means that something is not quite right in the space-time continuum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
Daniel Blumin:

Thankee, Alejandroool! Ken, is this at a rink? And if so, are they still playing the Bee Gees? Hiya, coelacanth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
coelacanth:

Dave in Vermont -what Daniel said is true; but try refreshing the page then it should stick.
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
cklequ:

If there are still roller skating rinks out there, they better still be playing the Bee Gees.
Avatar 10:53pm
steve:

maybe im of a different era but ill always associate roller rinks with Let The Music Play by Shannon
  11:13pm
Muhrvis:

Thx for anudder excellent program.

famous original sugarwolf:

@KenHP: is she roller skating at Roller Magic??
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, I don't recall them playing either of those groups. The stuff they play isn't familiar to my WFMU ears. Maybe some R Kelly or Nelly, maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
coelacanth:

damn, i wish i could get to that show. it will be amazing.

With a razor blade and tape. There's dedication.

jeff-m:

micro cassettes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
coelacanth:

so far it's just consecutive recordings, i think.
Avatar 11:24pm
fleep:

So, just stop and start with the Rec button? No cutting?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
coelacanth:

i'm pretty sure. that and a mic with an on/off switch.
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@f. o. sugarwolf - Yep, that's the place. For a few months, they were going ice skating at the civic center in Poughkeepsie, but back up here again now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
coelacanth:

hmm, i mean a mic with a switch that starts & stops the tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Daniel Blumin:

fleep, Lufthansa must be proud regardless - there's definitely cutting after recording hier methinks, fleep!
  11:33pm
JakeGould:

Whenever I hear Lufthansa nowadays all I can think about is the Lufthansa heist at JFK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
coelacanth:

there may be cutting too. there are 3 different transition sounds. the clean ones may be a splice; the abrupt o es are probably the stop & play buttons; the weird,"swirly" ones are probably a mic on/off switch.
...of course i could be wrong, but i'm speaking from my own experience.
  11:35pm
jeff-m:

swirly ones are the play and stop in my experience.

Jurgen Ploog, new to me, and digworthy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Daniel Blumin:

Good to see ye, NGH!
Avatar 11:39pm
steve:

also nk iht ithere's been a few short played-backwards sounds, which could presumably only be the result of splicing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
coelacanth:

i'm sure it's different on different recorders. the swirly sound is tape-lag, so surely some recorders would have that too with the stop & play.
Avatar 11:40pm
steve:

arg that should say "also i think there's"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
coelacanth:

steve i was going to mention that- except the contrary... i hadn't noticed the backward sounds,so i was thinking he surely would've thrown some pieces in there backwards- like any sane tape collage person would, if he were splicing!
...but i guess he did after all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm
Dave in Vermont:

"sane tape collage person"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
coelacanth:

what! it's possible!
Avatar 11:51pm
steve:

maybe not. but i say that as a guy with at least 12 walkmen in a 10 foot radius of himself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm
coelacanth:

haha!
well hopefully you have them all hooked up to a line mixer with a 2-channel output!
