Favoriting November 17, 2015: STEPHEN COATES (The Real Tuesday Weld) on Mikael Tariverdiev
Stephen Coates, film composer and leader of U.K.'s The Real Tuesday Weld, discusses Mikael Tariverdiev, one of Russia's most prolific film composers with over 130 credits but virtually unknown outside of his country. Stephen first encountered Tariverdiev's music on the stereo in a Moscow cafe while dodging the cold on tour in 2011. The chance encounter led him down a path resulting in a beautiful 51-track 3LP / 3CD boxset with 24-full page color booklet which Stephen co-produced closely with Tariverdiev's widow and will be released by Earth Recordings (U.S. distribution by Light in the Attic) on November 20th. Nostalgic Cold War excitement.

This show is sweet. Leonard Cohen on the railroad tracks is a nice touch.
