Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from August 14, 2015 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

@V You're right about that! Six weeks ago I figured my team had the division sewn up, but I always forget about how much things can change in late July. All of a sudden, the Nationals find themselves fighting for a wild card spot (and not very well at that).

@Evan - yeah, what a difference two weeks can make in this game! IMO, Mets have to play for the Division title; wild card going to be too close for comfort, I suspect.

@Uncle M - I've always had a love/hate relationship with the Mets - I was pissed after they unloaded RA - and now I hear he's pitching back at his Cy Young level. Crazy. I'm not big on American League ball, but stacked Jays may take that division. Woo!

Heard Matt Harvey on sports radio this morning, and he was so generic and boring in his comments, it was a little dispiriting. No doubt that's how they're (media) coached, though.

This track always sets off an alarm in my head that Vision On is coming on the TV even after 40+ years.

OK, here's a question. If I let the listeners guest program an episode of this show...solicit suggestions for a month or so...and select a show from those suggestions, would suggestions that weren't included engender resentment?

ndbob:

@UM I don't think so - I sure wouldn't resent not having a song chosen

I'm going to dodge that question and simply say thanks for reminding me of my gender today, UM! Great shoe!

I'm thinking about how to best go about it. I may say something about this next week.

I doubt it...or any such resentment would be thin, light and passing (just dinky), and even then only among a mini-mini-minority. Just guessing.

what weird production on that Corsairs track. It almost sounded Meek-like.

If you chose worse suggestions than mine, I'd resent that. & if they were better, I'd resent that.

Maybe apologize ahead of time "to those of you whose suggestions I did not choose", and then worry about it after that.
