I'm skeptical that better sound emerges from more complex systems, but maybe I'm confusing home audio with public address for big venues. Speaking of which, I'll hear Jimmy LaFave at Freight & Salvage next week. F&S uses Meyer Sound, I believe.

	12:29pm Mike East: @Dean - I know that it is very expensive and high quality and some artists/sound people demand it. We don't own any, so I don't have firsthand experience with it, though I've had to "subrent" it at times at a very high price. On a similar level with L'acoustics. We have mostly EAW here which sounds fine to me. johnk77 has more pro ears than I do, though, so he might have better info.

	12:37pm Dean: I know an eency-weency about home audio, exactly zero about professional sound. I'd never heard of L'Acoustics. How precious. Their US HQ is in a California town with the mellifluous name, Oxnard. And they don't shy from a pun: "L-Acoustics Hits The Mark On Knopfler's Current World Tour." Pretty dire, that.

	12:44pm Alex In Illinois: Back in June, for our trip home fromOregon, our sister-in-law made us some granola. At first she was unhappy with the slightly burnt smell that came from the oven and thought she had ruined it. But then I tasted it and found that it actually tasted superb! It had a slightly browned flavor to it.
	12:47pm Dean: A corollary, Lane, pertains to live acoustic (un-amplified) performances in venues larger than a large room. I remember stunning sound at Japan America Theatre in LA's Little Tokyo during performances by small orchestras and chamber ensembles. It appears the venue is now dubbed the Aratani Theatre, and was recently equipped with "a newly custom-designed Bose® RoomMatch® sound system." Oh, well.

	1:33pm βrian: We have a rather dreary folk show on the local public radio, called Simply Folk. Since it plays simultaneously on several of the stations, leaving no alternative, it's come to be known as Simply Fucked.
	1:37pm still b/p: That level of production was fine for Aerosmith. I had no appetite for the layers of flourishes and frosting and foolishness that came later.
	1:38pm Dean: Sorry, Sarah, I was waylaid by stuff. Well, there's "Where the Bee Sucks, There Suck I," lyrics by a has-been wannabe movie scriptwriter out of Stratford. Arne lived a bit later than Henry Purcell, interpretations of whose works by Kirkby are also resplendent. Like Purcell, he wrote works for stage.

We don't own any, so I don't have firsthand experience with it, though I've had to "subrent" it at times at a very high price. On a similar level with L'acoustics. We have mostly EAW here which sounds fine to me. johnk77 has more pro ears than I do, though, so he might have better info.

At first she was unhappy with the slightly burnt smell that came from the oven and thought she had ruined it. But then I tasted it and found that it actually tasted superb! It had a slightly browned flavor to it.
	12:47pm Dean: A corollary, Lane, pertains to live acoustic (un-amplified) performances in venues larger than a large room. I remember stunning sound at Japan America Theatre in LA's Little Tokyo during performances by small orchestras and chamber ensembles. It appears the venue is now dubbed the Aratani Theatre, and was recently equipped with "a newly custom-designed Bose® RoomMatch® sound system." Oh, well.
