A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's similar - but not identical - to the question of people who got the wrong end of the stick in Punk. Like HipHop - they are forms thru which an UnderClass expresses all that is not expressed anywhere else & is otherwise bottled up. This can be done consciously or not - & challenges all our value judgements in society. The exposition of the reality of the constant hair-trigger struggle to survive & get out of the 'ghetto' always strikes me w/ HipHop - like, even the worst of it is informative to me as reportage - & it's awkward to preach values on someone under those pressures. I get bored & disgusted w/ thuggish self-aggrandizement - but I'm conflicting about faulting people in that situation...

Yes Trouble - this is why I like the word 'Socialism' - it has 'society' as a root - & we are a society. Libertarianism is a fantasy of a simplistic world that never existed.
We've got to live together.
The older civilizations of Europe have figured out that everyone will get old & sick, & Health Care will cost something, & it might as well be addressed in some civil manner.
