Hey all - We're dealing with some technical issues in Brooklyn. We'll be on the air in a few minutes with a 3-hour show full of New Zealand music goodness!
Have you got the Dead Famous People EP "Arriving Late In Torn And Filthy Jeans"? The first track, "The Girl With An Attitude Problem" is a Kiwi classic!
Committing to a 2- or 3-hour selection of music from even a subset of the world's offerings is a skill I could not master. I'd be locked up for hours trying to commit to the tracks. A 90-min mixtape was about all I could master.
Obviously, you are doing this show in honor of tomorrow being the 18th anniversary of the opening of Auckland's Sky Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere: tttours.co.nz...
My college radio station was sold to what is now Clear Channel my senior year of HS, so, I never had college radio (and that station was pretty good the few times I drove nearby in HS). So, I had some friends that did pirate radio (but they kept on getting shut down by the FCC about once a year.)

I never had a collage radio experience during collage, only after volunteering for xdu here in durham.
i still don't know if the college right down the street from where i grew up had a station or not. if it did it probably sucked.
fortunately i discovered wfmu, kcr and rsu when i was pretty young.
My (commercial) college station changed from classic rawk (Bruce etc.) to alt/college rock while I was there. I did the 3-6am shift, "jazz after hours."
WZBC out of Boston College on this side. Still in touch w/ one of the DJs. Watched him eagerly taping George Bush drivel around the Gulf War one night in his dorm room so he could make an audio collage for his show.
i knew a guy in the 80s said he was a dj at a boston club,"the underground" -? he gave me 3-4 tapes that turned me on to several things i listen to to this day.
...i'm guessing you're not in boston, but maybe you know if that club's still there?
