Bettie Seevert once headlined a WFMU benefit. It was at the Knitting Factory. The very first night it opened at its downtown location. KF owner Michael Dorf was a complete prick and wouldn't give WFMU the cash for many weeks after the show. Turned out he was pretty broke. Had borrowed something like $20,000 from John Zorn and wasn't paying him back either. After months of haranguing him on a daily basis, I finally got the benefit money from Dorf. Whatta jerk he was.

We're having Brussels sprouts, too. Sautéed in ginger and garlic. That FMU benefit was in November '94. Right after the station paid Upsala College $150,000 to purchase license. The benefit was to help raise $$$ to defray costs.
