An excellent question, Bobdoesthings. I will have to go back into the past to find an answer.

@bob: pretty sure there's just a global counter for all comments across the site. While you're on an active comments board your browser asks the site for the newest version of the list of comments and includes with that request the show id and a number that increments every time a new comment shows up on that board.

teflon:
except it doesn't really increment, it seems to jump to "the newest comment ID site-wide" and the server then filters by show id.
And it's your fault Groucho, this never-ending playlist thing was YOUR idea.

Happy New Year, everybody!
@Vicki: Brilliant show last week! Still can't get over how you handled that Toilet Bunny situation that almost got out of hand...

Hello!
I arrived early to help groucho prepare the most epic playlist comment Xmas-New Years Eve party ever!
I brought with me an after party kit which includes the following party weaponry and equipment:
- 3 Pinatas
- 1 kg of Confetti
- 1 cupcake stand
- 50 balloons (unfortunately they don't come inflated)
- 10 cake candles
- 20 party hats / paper water cones
- 16 decorated napkins
- 20 blowouts
- 1 vuvuzela
groucho, this is going to be a hell of a party! If things go out of control, close the comment gates and don't let the police get in!
The baloons need inflating, we make a air-inflatery thing out of the flame from the candles and the air from inside the pinatas, get some science guys in to make that work, then connect that to the end of the vuvuzela, with it's mouthpiece inside the balloons.
That solves the problem of the un-inflated balloons.
Then we can just play a recording of some people choking, mix that in with some cambodian synth metal and boom, Happy fuckin new years!
it's a stop-motion film about Horse, Indian, and Cowboy. part adventure, part love story. A small village, including love interest Ms. Longray, celebrate Horse's birthday. Indian and Cowboy order way too many bricks to build a barbeque. this movie is much better than my shitty critique.
Cecile: I've always had this fantasy of putting the whole soundtrack of the Sound of Music to a Ramones/punk rhythym. The song, I Am Sixteen, Going on Seventeen would work nicely, as well as, Climb Every Mountain, Forge Every Stream.
Yes!
I actually fried my vocal chords singing Climb Every Mountain at the top of my lungs. That one IS the show-stopper. But those last two notes kill you.
Hey, I remember a GREAT episode of 7SD on NYE wherein you conversed with people around the world in different time zones about the incoming, uh, 1997 IIRC.
@Cecile: I've just read Dan Charnas' book. Thanks! It's GREAT

Ken,
I don't think you have ever played the most awesome -and tragic- brazilian band ever, Mamonas Assasinas (after Os Mutantes of course).
They even have a Ken-friendly song called 'Vira Vira'. This is perhaps the only band in the history of humanity that I am aware of that -literaly- disintegrated into thin air.
oh, I'm glad, doca! You should also look up his interviews at FMU. He writes like he talks, very enthusiastic!
Yeah, I got a few zingers in there myself.
When the captain goes back into the house after chewing out Maria for letting the kids play music, I yelled, "YOU'RE WELCOME!" at the top of my lungs, and the whole theater cracked up.
@Cecile: Gonna check it out. But it's a wonderful book. It has wits, it is funny, it is challenging and it makes a great case for hip hop and against cultural purism. It got me very hooked into the thing.
Cecile, sounds like you gave The Sound of Music the same treatment as Rocky Horror. I'm all for it. Have you seen this interpretation of Aliens the movie done in an Ice Capades style? It's called "Aliens on Ice". Brilliant in my opinion. www.youtube.com...
@Sem - Hi man. Gotta be careful, he might be monitoring my computer as we speak and that'll be me cleared out. Hope you tamed that haggis you were wrestling with yesterday. Have a great NYE.
@Stanley: yes, the haggis is on a leash, whimpering and awaiting its fate. And I hope you, too, have a fine evening and celebration up there, where the weather is always wonderful:-)
this song makes me want to join the brownshirts and goose step to the nearest tavern for the motherland!

Thanks, common! I was reading the movie info:
"Two young French schoolgirls, bored and left too much by themselves..." (Oh la la!!)
"..decide to dedicate themselves to doing evil after reading works by French revolutionaries and anti-social types..." ( Yes, that's the spirit I get after reading Baudeliere and Jean-Jacques Rosseau !)
"...The leader of the two instigates a number of small crimes such as torturing a cat...(I think Ken would like to see this film too!)
..."and tormenting the school groundskeeper by killing birds. " ( Where I can download the film for free?)
Also is very good "Цукор біла смерть" Ukrainan band, and Orange Disgrace (Апельсиновое Безобразие). Maybe it will interesting for you, Ken, and WFMU listeners.
I listened to the last archived show of SSD just yesterday! Hilarity of the first order! You guys still have a minimum of 20 years to go. The Cannibal Holocaust bit got me in tears!
Is there a live SSD show today?

Is F.A.R.T. an acronym.? Like for a slogan to live by in 2015? Will I need a FART t-shirt to identify myself with the "movement"?

Does anyone know what the dripping yellow shape encircling Andy's head and terminating at his chin in the Celestial Soul Portrait of Ken and Andy is meant to represent? A microphone?
Hey SM Ken. Don't get to listen live much, but always enjoy when i do. Thanks for your part in a great FMU year. Looking forward to '15; keep it weird!
