	3:31am P-90: @Sem: Oh you "help out"? Do you get to work "hands on" in the field? Like I said, I've got a bottle all the way from France that I've never opened, so I'm thinking now (since you posted that link) that I'd like to gt a bottle of the Nova Scotia stuff, to actually drink.

	3:35am Sem Chumbo: @P-90: pretty sure I can make that happen. I.W. makes pear brandy from a variety of pears, all of which ripen at different times. The sweet spot on THAT Venn diagram is time-sensitive. Hit it this year, distilled the product, but now it's gotta rest in the oak for a few months. All of last year's production has been sold. And yah, that two-part thing is just bullshit.

	3:48am P-90: @Sem: So the "sweet spot" is when all the varieties are ripe at the same time? Do they label the bottles with the different pears separately?
	3:50am mauri: I started thinking I might just buy good vodka and pears and let infuse in some wooden box... I dont know anymore. I've never had aftershave... I might be missing out.
	3:51am Stanley: Lighter fluid is my drink of choice.
	3:52am Stanley: I once found a bottle of Chinese firewater with a pickled lizard in it! Not in duty fee, I may add.

	3:56am Sem Chumbo: @Bill: thanks for this! @P-90. Sorry, not clear writing. The pear brandy is a blend of pear varieties, fermented and then distilled. The pear variety found inside the bottle is the Bartlett, the brandy is the blended product.
	3:57am Stanley: The overall smell of Brut. That's the one for me.
	3:57am Andy in Berlin: Me, I just take a couple of swigs of You're The Fire, sure fixes me up!
	3:57am Sem Chumbo: hahaha. Hai Karate. My old man was an Old Spice guy, not to drink, but to douse himself in EVERY SINGLE MORNING.
	3:58am P-90: So they pick the different varieties at different times, barrel them separately, then blend before adding to the bottle-grown pears?
	3:59am Stanley: Sem - my Grandad, too. He left the bathroom with an exotic smell of Old Spice and fags.
	3:59am Sem Chumbo: In my ancestral land, Cape Breton, when the Mason jars of clear fluid show up at the party, it separates the quick from the soon-to-be dead. Awful, condensed through old car radiators, for those keen on the taste of lead solder. @P-90: just so.

	4:09am P-90: It WAS like Spring all summer long here wasn't it? And the last 3-4 summers before were brutal, MANY 90+ degree (F) days, and nights when it didn't cool down much.
	4:10am Sem Chumbo: @P-90: I once stayed at the Tanger Inn, in Tangiers. The owner, an aged Englishman, remembered Mr. Burroughs, who lived upstairs in a long-term rental, as a quiet man. I suspect morphine addicts are frequently described thusly. The bar at the Tanger Inn attracted, ah, a discriminating clientele.

	4:13am P-90: Twas actually an English musician acquaintance of mine, turned me on to a scent from Penhaligon's called "Blenham Bouquet" that supposedly hasn't changed since 1902, and is about the most foolproof smell a man can wear on his body. Recommended.

The sweet spot on THAT Venn diagram is time-sensitive. Hit it this year, distilled the product, but now it's gotta rest in the oak for a few months. All of last year's production has been sold. And yah, that two-part thing is just bullshit.
