Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Mike East:

was just watching the Big Star documentary last weekend again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm doctorjazz:

Ahhh, I had heard that the Searchers covered this, never heard this version though, nice (hard to kill this song).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Mike East:

I've been slowly teaching myself Big Star covers...they sound so simple, but there's a lot going on there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm MattBelow:

Hey Joe et all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Mike East:

this dylan song has one of my favorite lyrics: "he said you can't forget your past. I said, 'you can't? what dya mean you can't? of course you can"
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm ChrisB.:

Ah, the dulcet tones of the Old Croaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Parq:

Listening to the elderly Bob D, I can't stop thinking of that Richard Belzer bit that had him singing an an old Yiddischer accent.
Avatar 12:21pm bobdoesthings:

Dusty Springfield! Love this tune
Avatar 12:24pm bobdoesthings:

the ending of this dusty springfield song always annoys me... towards the end when the climactic buildup part comes her voice is too low in the mix..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm listener jeff:

Does anybody know anything about a group called the "Fabulous Pack? I picked up a few 45's at a record show but can't find out much about them other than: Flint Michigan and Mark Farner was in group for a while. Lucky 11 label.
Avatar 12:27pm Joe B:

it's pre Grand funk railroad guys
  12:29pm John L.:

Up in these parts Dylan can do no wrong. I even sell a bunch of the Christmas cds come Winter.
Avatar 12:30pm KP:

Time Out of Mind is the last one that brings back the magic

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- honestly? Bangles still my fave 'S.Gurls'
...was Bob's 3rd major peak, no? that's amazing - but mid60s like nothing else ever was or shall be.
- Ah - the Monte 1st set ...(smiles)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm listener jeff:

Thanks Joe! was looking to see if I could find any other records but couldn't. Wondered if they knew about the MC5....or ever played with them.
Avatar 12:41pm Joe B:

Hi everyone, thanks for listening/checking in! appreciate it!

Dave the Chris Isaak show was great!
Avatar 12:42pm Joe B:

Jeff, they mainly recorded as Terry Knight and the Pack. Terry Knigh of course went on to become their shady manager of Grand Funk. They did record as The Pack, and maybe even the Fabulous pack when they first signed to Capitol. Look for a great version of Fire by hendrix they did on Capitol as just The Pack
Avatar 12:44pm Joe B:

hey Mike East, I agree, cool version by Mr collins!

Hey Bob, agree on the end of the Dusty track. Hi Dr Goot, bonjour Pierre!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm paul b:

Odd, this is the second time now I've heard the OBN IIIs come on and thought it was some Deniz Tek related band at first
Avatar 12:49pm Joe B:

Hey Kp! hey J and Parq!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm James in ATL:

Joe - Great show as always. I saw Muck and the Mires with the Woggles this last week and the Muck folks were sporting Three Chord Monte shirts.
Avatar 12:49pm Joe Belock:

RR Nov 63 - I dig them both a lot! yeah Bangles version very good.
Avatar 12:50pm Joe B:

Hi James, thanks! yes, I saw FB evidence of that event!
Avatar 12:51pm Joe B:

also, I do like those Dylan albums in the 97-2001 era but people get carried away sometimes praising them. and it is balanced out by his terrible live shows
Avatar 12:51pm Joe B:

hey Cheri Pi! great job thursday on diane's show! lotta fun!
Avatar 12:54pm Joe B:

good point paul!
Avatar 12:58pm Joe B:

  1:21pm Bluesman:

Its all good JB! "Semi-vindication" ocurred in the past 15 minutes. As if the saints intervened.
  1:22pm Figures of Light:

Hey -- The Saints -- now there's a great band!
  1:23pm Figures of Light:

  1:54pm John L.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Parq:

It isn't enough that I went into a bar at lunchtime and heard "Free Bird". I have to hear this, too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm doctorjazz:

THE LONG VERSION!!! PLAY THE LONG VERSION!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Stevel:

Please tell me Sammy Davis Jr. covered Innagaddadavida. Please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm doctorjazz:

Worlds worst drum solo, gotta count for something...
Avatar 1:59pm Joe B:

cant blame me for freebird!

i wish Stevel!

hey at least the drummer on this version went on to kill his mother with a hammer
Avatar 1:59pm PKNY:

Jim Gordon on the drums, King Errisson on the bongos = killer (no pun intended) combo.
Avatar 2:00pm bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Parq:

Jeez, Bob, I was a huge Jim Gordon fan in the early 70s, and I never knew about that. Whew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Stevel:

Thanks Bob. I was repressing my inner tabloid desires. Rock and roll. The gift that keeps on giving.
  2:04pm Toddophonic:

Bluesman, when did you start working for me?
Avatar 2:04pm bobdoesthings:

at least we can blame it on scizophrenia. Not like that recent mother slaying that happened last week in ho-ho-kus. so sad.
  2:06pm John L.:

I never really listened to Built To Spill. This is a good tune. How is the rest of the album?
  2:07pm Bluesman:

Toddophonic I'd be happy to take your abuse.
Avatar 2:07pm Joe B:

i think it is their best, not sure how their big fans view it. i saw them a few times, only one show was really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Parq:

I grew up in the northern corner of Paramus, just over the border from Ho-Ho-Kus. It's why I pronounce Hoboken as "HoBOken".
Avatar 2:08pm Joe B:

you and bugs bunny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Parq:

Yeah, exactly! That reinforced it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm courtneynoir:

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Jeff from Rahway:

Joe's been playing lots of Carsick Cars recently. Keep em coming.
Avatar 2:14pm Joe B:

dont know how i missed 'em 5 years ago!
Avatar 2:15pm bobdoesthings:

someone made a funny pic of "hobo-ken" with a picture of a hobo with Ken's head on top. I shoulda saved it!
  2:15pm John L.:

So many people I know loved Built To Spill so much that I resisted them. Sometimes it's better to hear something without knowing who it is. Maybe you can slide in a Red Hot Chili Peppers song and I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Avatar 2:15pm ken in denver:

Me like music from big city.
  2:15pm Bluesman:

Word. Carsicks Cars is great stuff.
Avatar 2:19pm KP:
