Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

You're right, Uncle -- Michael Parks was a far better singer than most TV actors. But I lost interest after he revealed that he voted for George Wallace in '68.

In the NYC area of the late 80s, you used to see car air fresheners shaped like crowns. Someone got curious about these things and asked what they were. A friend of mine told her that Puerto Rico used to be a monarchy, and that these crowns were how local folks from the island showed their support for its restoration. He doubled down by adding that the different-colored crowns represented supporters of different factions trying to regain the throne.

I liked Alexei Sayle back in the day. And Daniel Kitson was really funny opening for Eugene Mirman recently.
But tis true that the Goons were more a cult thing over here.
