Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from July 4, 2014 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Foot stompin' opener, Uncle M. And Doug, thanks for that last set; my socks had gotten pretty stinky. Humidity, y'know.

Putting in contacts the morning after making chili is always a thrill for just that reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm

One of the neighbors brought over some home brew (in trade for saving empty bottles), so the lip burns were quickly eliminated.

Oh, and the stream stopped entirely while I was typing that. Restarted.

The program director at the Radio Bop '60s webstream is using short samples of Chickenman in between some of the songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Uncle Michael:

Now that I'm not a "pirate" I don't touch Chickenman. Dick Orkin sells a very particular license to play that stuff on radio or on a stream.

...gainful is overstating it...freedom to play the music I wanted was even shut down; I was on the verge of starting to stream there, even...oh - to be locked to a desk & hear what I choose...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
Doug Schulkind:

Throw in Jake Arieta and we'll give you Scott Feldman. Whaddya say?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm

I say that no team has enough to trade for both of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm

At my last fulltime job, I was called down to HR to be told that I couldn't stream via their computer network. Could have been solved via an email or phonecall, but the chittering locust who ran that department needed to pretend she was a grade school vice principal. Good work to be done at that job, terrible environment in which to do it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

UM, I am 100% behind that feeling. I have a certain handful of songs that totally transfix me like that.

Ahhhh, Styx... I love you, but nobody else understands your progged-pop-art-hard rock...

Yep, you forgot. The date for "Spirit Of Us" is still 1070.

You called it "reefer" without irony! I also used to have a bunch of Loss Leaders -- 6 hours of flashbacks will be fun! It's a pretty diverse set of albums.

I thought you were kidding about "Elvis' Greatest Shit", but you were not. I laughed, I cried.

All kinds of good listening...

Hope you had a good flight to ChIll. See you in archiveland again soon.
