For those in the NYC area, there's a documentary about the NYAQ premiering at Anthology Film Archives on Sunday evening, May 18th! Showing with NY Eye and Ear Control! At least one Jeff should be there...
@duke: it could also be a fight on the mud, but that doesn't seem very pleasant in an academic setting. see ya duke

You may be aware that your Charlotte, North Carolina, half of the DO Radio tag-team, Jeff Jackson, was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times' Book Award, but did you know...
(1) Jeff J will be in Brooklyn on May 12 participating in the Franklin Park Reading Series: franklinparkbrooklyn.com...
(2) A play that Jeff co-wrote will be performed the week of May 9-17. The play will happen in the Brill Building in mid-town Manhattan and admission is FREE: www.timessquarenyc.org...

As a resident of NC, I had no idea, way to go! I am totally oblivious to the cultural musings of Charlotte...
Jeff and Jeff, I was going to ask if you had the double-LP Alan Shorter made in Florence, but then I remembered that it was that OTHER BROTHER, Donald Ayler who made the double-LP in Florence. While I have you, do you have that one?!?

I was also unable to attend, luckily he as been a willing to performer round these parts.
Great Wayne Shorter set indeed! I've never listened to his solo work with much attention, never thought it could be better than that second Miles quintet
A silly question: on this box set there are presented new recordings of those tunes or just they're re-released? I'm trying to figure out the differences between this one and the one released on the same title album.
1:50pm
Dean:
Recently acquired both the Resonance box and the Parker Wood Flute Songs. Both are spectacular live accounts.
1:51pm
Dean:
@doca, I believe most if not all of the tunes are new recordings from different live shows.
@doca: Dean is correct. They are all new live recordings on the WOOD FLUTE SONGS box, though drawing on a book of tunes that (as you've seen) show up on many of the previous albums by the quartet (and related groups).
