I was living in London in the early 90s. The one time I went to see Nirvana, right before Nevermind came out, I got to the door and was informed that i had bought counterfeit tickets from the scalper and was not let in.

T, Aren' the subway posters for Mad Men perfection? A silhouetted adman looking at commercial art by Milton Glaser in the midst of his forward 60s transition, with his oversize signature. Except it really is his signature--now! That's pomodernity for you.

BGZ- I wasn't aware of the Fudge Tunnel/Mountain Goats connections. but it makes total sense when one considers how big of a metalhead John Darnielle is
Avatar 12:49am
BadGuyZero:

I saw Nirvana at The Electric Jungle in Dallas in 1989. Cover was $3 and beer was free.

Kurt punched a friend of mine that was working stage security at the Dallas stop on the "Nevermind" tour [footage of it is on one of the Nirvana home videos]. I videotaped him going after Kurt after the show. Kurt was in a taxi with Dave and Kris; my friend punched one of the taxi's windows out trying to get to Kurt. I learned that Kurt was dead when my phone wouldn't stop ringing one morning. My idiot friends were calling me to let me know I should sell the video footage to "Hard Copy." No way! I gave the tape to the guy that Kurt punched shortly after Kurt died.

@Therese: Alex also produced a few track on Melvins' "Stag" album. He has an all-analog studio in NYC now. I kind of wish Fudge Tunnel would do some reunion shows. Last time I saw FT they opened for Sepultura. Alex joined Sepultura during their encore to do a few Nailbomb songs.
