The first people I thought of asking to join Give the Drummer Radio after I got approval from WFMU to create it were Jeff Golick and Jeff Jackson, the bloggers behind Destination:Out. Their taste in music and eloquence in writing about it was a thrill from their very first post. For the past two and half years, the THRILL has been that these two magnificent obsessives have shared their obsessions in radio show form.

I read somewhere one of the guys in Borbetomagus saying that they played in a fraternity party or something like that in a major-Ivy League university and that they were invited as a "jazz band". Then they got over there and played their usual thing and needless to say everyone got pretty scared. I remember I laughed hard at the story.
Harold Ramis died? I liked him since he was a writer-performer on National Lampoon's Radio Hour and then SCTV. I thought Ken Freedman looked a lot like him. Wha'd he die of?

Did Andy & Ken have an advance obituary ready for H. Ramis?
Huge thanks to the mighty Listener James from Westood!

THERE ARE TWO PEOPLE IN THE RUNNING FOR T H R E E PRIZES.We need to get one more pledge and then we can give away the first three prizes and then offer some more!!! Next pledge WINS a prize!
DJ Gary of Bodega Pop Live has blown in with a blustery pledge of wonder! THANK YOU Gary. (He is not eligible for prizes, so everyone else in the world's chances are still just as great.)
All pledges of $75 or more and you automagically get the D:O Radio premium AND you will be in the running for the 4-CD grand prize, The Complete Sextet works from Zs, on Northery Spy.
We are still waiting for the first premium/grand prize eligible pledge!!
@Gary: What Brian said! The irony (if that's what it is) is that my WFMU/GTDR listening has led to more new music purchases than perhaps any other source (other than my D:O bro, Jeff J.).
Back where I was last year, w/o a paycheck. Then, I promised I'd give heavily once gainfully employed again, and that worked, as I started work in the summer and had some savings come time for the fall marathon. Of course, hopefully we won't need a fall marathon. (and I'll still give none-the-less).
Listener Brian in UK wins the Chris McGregor Trio disc.
We still have these prizes available for all pledges of $15 or more:
LeRoi Jones' "Black Music" book and David S. Ware's disc "Onecept."
Also, all pledges of $75 or more get in the running for these prizes as well as the 4-CD grand prize "The Complete Sextet Works" from Zs AND you get a copy of the D:O Radio 2014 premium: www.wfmu.org...
Jeff, I wish I could pledge too to your show. It always reminds of me of the fabulous music I grew in love with a few years ago and how it still sounds fabulous. Money's short, but I hope next year I'll be able to come with a dog tail moving and cow mooing pledge over here
Still not one pledge of $75 or more to get the D:O Radio premium. And what an amazing collection it is. If you make that pledge, you will be in the running to win the GRAND PRIZE.
