I'll give anyone snarzillion dollars if you can guess who the guy at the back end of the boat is. I'll double it if you can guess who the fellow third from the end is. (The guy immediately behind rowing Eric Dolphy, I mean.)
But I also have an image I.D. I'd like to ask help with. Is there some WFMU DJ who a) wears glasses (wire I'd say) b) has dark hair c) a thin face d) prominent nose e) and a mustache meeting down to a chin beard ? 40's - 50's I'd guess.
Well, someone from the station pops up as the visual on our Squeezebox radio. Spent a little while going through playlists trying to match an image there, but no luck so far. Only a few actually post an image that transfers to the radio viewer -- fxo, Irene (though not so far today), SM Ken, Bryce, and that's all I've seen anyway.
In honor of Lester Young Day, my employer will today suffer my presence without the customary benefit of shower or shave, that I may better enjoy D:O to the max. SO BE IT!
It is such a great radio day! First, three hours out in the fields riding the D:O thresher, then an hour with Robert Caro, who's being interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air at 3pm. Thank you God for given me ears.
When Caro's publisher announced that the fourth and final book was actually going to be the penultimate book in a series stretching to five tomes, I had a little cry. As I poured through the most recent volume, however, I did so with the giddy realization that there is yet one more book to come. (Knock wood.)
@UM
When Caro started out, he imagined that it would be a trilogy. But pretty early on he knew that wouldn't be possible. By the end of the third volume, LBJ hasn't even become vice president yet.
Tomorrow, after my Olympics special from 6-7pm (eastern), I will be steering the one-man bobsleigh known as Kaminsky Kamoutsky. Jesse has a grad school obligation tomorrow, so he pre-recorded his show and I will be running the playlist and comments!
Happened upon the NBC-reporter-makes-Bode-Miller-cry interview last night and was like, jesus leave the poor guy along. Was satisfied to learn this morning that twitter was, on the whole, feeling similar and voicing displeasure.
Ah yes, @kat, though due to some poor planning on my part, it'll be after the show's over. (I'd prefer not to start uploading anything during the broadcast.) Any specific questions or guesses?
It's everything. Like not showing competitors from other countries (leaving Finland out so much is pissing Philo off, as it has every 2-4 years). Then it swings between TMI about someone's performance to completely ignoring that someone fell out of the race altogether. Bleah.

Did you know that Von Freeman, along with his brothers Bruz and George, played with Bird?! In 1950.
