Bill, I gotta tell ya, me and all my siblings & friends hated Pomper Room when we were five. Capt. Kangaroo was a whole different deal, he had so much more class, not so condescending. Also a whole generation learned how funny drunkenness could be from his buddy Mr. Greenjeans

I may be betraying my ethnicity here but I always thought Mr. Greenjeans was Mr. Cream Cheese. When JFK was killed, the country went under this dark cloud, if you were a little kid you knew about it but didnt understand. Capt. Kangaroo was off the air for three days after it happened, bumped by round-the-clock news coverage of the crisis. But on that fourth morning post-Dallas, Capt Kangaroo was back, live, and he explained it to a whole generation of kids in a way we could understand. And the kicker: he did it AGAIN when Bobby was killed a few years later

P-90:

@Bill & Coel,: yeah, if you find someone who's just the right age, hey will often remember the JFK/Capt.K thing. Part of it as that while all this was happenning, the children's TV shows were cut off, so kids' routine were disrupted, drawing their attention to the sense of a universal tragedy that was in the air. When Capt K came back at 8 am or whatever it was, parents stuck their kids in front of the TV, to get back to routine, and to get the "baby-sitting" function of the TV back again. And good ol' Bob had to say SOMETHING to us about it all...

Bill, is this New Orleans a new one. The other Fish Frys are so expensive.
Avatar 5:38am
Bill Mac:

I second that Stanley, lots to do on the left coast
  5:38am
Fran:

Bill - a cry for ELP will bring a different kind of Doctor to your door. Brian, I'm not sick - just a gentle giant in a Rush to play with his Van der graaf generator in the court of the crimson king

P-90:

@Fran: Yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40am

ELP, Tull, King, Focus, Floyd - I had 'em all. Till they all got ripped off along with the rest of my album collection back in '84.

I used to have the single of Court. Parts one & two. Think they slightly overlapped it 'cause you could never turn it over quick enough.

Ever heard the "Brain Salad Surgery" 45, with the bass that drops through the floor?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44am

Bill, any hints on the premium. Prog outtakes. Does anyone remember a Gentle Giant track called 'Need You Oh So Bad' They did a Peel session. Think it was fifteen seconds long. Great track.

Clearing a room.......unfairly to the great man that was called for a time 'Wyatting' as some wit decided Robert Wyatt on a juke box could clear the room faster than.......well....VDGG! Good soul break Bill just to add balance - do remember that Peter Hammill is a soul boy from his youth - admittedly there is little obvious sign today!!
