Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from January 7, 2014 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Lee Ranaldo and The Dust  Live in the WFMU Studio   Favoriting Engineered by Ernie Indradat    Sonic Youth guitarist/co-founder returns to Brian's show for a live session amidst a busy year of world travels, and making his latest Matador Records release Last Night On Earth. Since last visit, Lee's live sets and recordings have definitely taken on a dynamic of a more developed band relationship; players Steve Shelley on drums, Tim Luntzel on bass, and second guitarist Alan Licht still explore expansive electric jams, but also have worked to frame Lee's songcraft and lyrical poeticism into even sharper realms. Lee and the Dust headline at the Bell House in Brooklyn January 11th, with Steve Gunn and Spectre Folk also on the bill. Set list today: Revolution Blues (Neil Young cover) / Late Descent #2 / Last Night On Earth / Everybody's Been Burned (D. Crosby cover) / Home Chds / Key/Hole / The Rising Tide / Blackt Out / She Cracked (Modern Lovers cover)    1:34:47 (Pop-up)

Guido (Cologne):

Had listened to "Last Night On Earth" over and over.

The Night of the Cologne Show last autumn was somewhat special.
The city was covered in a cloud of very fine drizzle (not the average fog).
Crossing the Rhine on my bike for the show, I looked back and found the city completely disappeared, Like the outer space started directly unter the bridge. Somehow fits the "Last Night On Earth" motiv.
