Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from December 31, 2013 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Brian, consider switching rental agencies. I haven't had a rental car without one of those in years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm

A couple of summers ago I had a rental car for a Cinci/Detroit trip that only had a CD player and radio. No other audio options available.
Avatar 3:55pm
Chris from DC:

Aw yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
efd:

That was the summer I learned that there was no such thing as a CD car stereo adapter like there is for cassette decks. :/
Avatar 3:57pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...there's them little transmitters you can plug into a pod (or whatever) & listen over the car radio
- probably a pain in the ass (?) w/ batteries running out, &tc. ...
Avatar 3:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

Aw man! I would've guessed there was, just because I knew about those cassette adaptors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Parq:

They make these little broadcast transmitter adapters that you can plug into your iPod and broadcast it to an unused frequency on the FM radio. The trouble is, in a big city like NY (and, I assume, Detroit), the waveband is too crowded and you can't find a clean empty signal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Parq:

Achh, sorry RevRab, I see you beat me to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
efd:

Matt, I just assumed there would be too for the same reason! But no dice, and I guess when you think about the transport mechanics of a CD player vs. a cassette (i.e. no shell to stuff other electronics into) it makes sense that there isn't.)

Parq/RRN63, we tried one of those when we couldn't find a CD adapter, but couldn't get it to transmit clearly so we returned it and bought some CDs.

Avatar 4:07pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...a simple headphone jack input would do it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Parq:

Just so we're clear, I'm talking about these little mini-stereo jacks on the car radio or sometimes hidden elsewhere. You get a male-to-male mini stereo cable, and you can tell the local broadcasting industry to eat it.
Avatar 4:08pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

: ) parq
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm

@ Parq, they put mine in the damned glove box (Ford Focus), so I've clipped a couple of cables already. Stupid stupid stupid design.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
