Hi kat: Hope all is good w you.
Avatar 12:22pm
kat330:

'Tis, except I wish my lunch were more in line with this exotic sound (BLT, how 'merkan can you get), and the weather—which has been absolutely stunning here all summer—has turned a bit hot and sticky. Otherwise, very good! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Mike East:

@kat330 - I was making blt's a few weeks ago with some tomaters that one of my wifes students gave us from the garden. I made a basil aioli (also from the garden) for it and added avocado which made it a bit more "exotic". They were absolutely delicious.....we are vegetarians this week, though.
Avatar 12:31pm
kat330:

Yes, our garden tomatoes indeed. Full-on BLT season for us. I do not can and don't have a big enough freezer section to try that out (I hear you can freeze 'em), so we have to "suffer" by using them up best we can. :)
Avatar 12:32pm
kat330:

Of course, we've been heavily sharing this year with our tomato-robbing squirrels and a very dear bunny.

I hear jarring works well, but its a bit of a process. Someday I live in a place that's conducive to growing my own.

Great set!
Avatar 12:36pm
kat330:

@Mike: Yeah, the sentence may have been jarring, but by don't "can" that's the same thing I meant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Mike East:

haha - I see that now. it was a bit jarring. My brain translated to "we do not and can not freeze them"
Avatar 12:43pm
northguineahills:

I have more jalapenos then I know what to do w/, and the first serranos are about a week away. Tomatillos are about a month from being ripe. Other then that, tons of parsley, cilantro, dill, basil, lettuce basil, and mustard. Tomatoes are flowering, so, hopefully I'll see some fruit in October.
  12:45pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

This is very soothing on the ears

@Irene: Re: that Asperatus Cloud Over New Zealand photo, I immediately thought of Joni Mitchell's "Refuge of the Road" lyric: "A thunderhead of judgment was gathering in my gaze"

@Jeezy: Hey, like Strangers on a Train, so no one will ever link us with a motive, let's trade ice cream truck bazooka blastings, ok? :) We have more than one, but the worst is "Turkey in the Straw." I never see anyone buying anything. Must be for drugs or something

Avatar 1:27pm
Droll:

Once I was in Stockholm in January (sub-freezing, pitch dark in mid-afternoon) and there was a big group of people around a truck stopped in the street so I went over to see what was up. Ice cream truck. Apparently the Scandinavians don't mind eating ice cream in the cold. The non-melting aspect is sure convenient.

I couldn't seem to find that live Mojave 3 you mentioned, Irene. Closest I found was a replay from your Lost in the Afternoon premium some years back. I'm probably just not searching right.
