Ah,a Stiff Box Set. I remember at school we came back after the summer holidays of 76 and while me and my pals were the usual unkempt long haireds, there was one kid who'd spent the summer stuffing record sleeves with 45s in London at Stiff. He had drainpipe trousers on and short spikey hair, Freaked us all out....little did we know what was to come.
Avatar 5:25am
Bill Mac:

@KP Crazy crazy stuff man... what are you on?
Avatar 5:31am
Bill Mac:

@Stanley You're taking me back to High School 74-75 I think. One of the smarter more outspoken kids in my class was a guy named DeGiuseppe. He had the floor in English class one day and he told us about the magic of punk rock, and 'it was coming' like it was going to destroy everything that came before. Flash forward 30 years and I'm at an RL Burnside show, and who do I see at the show but DeGiuseppe. I remember tapping him on the shoulder and reintroducing myself to him and relating his comments to our class. Must've been a bit surreal for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37am
Stanley:

That's a wonderful story, Bill. Sort of suspect punk rock started in the US with Ramones, MC5, The Stooges, Johnny Thunders, Cherry Vanilla and so on. This view could be a bit heretic over here, though.
