Josh Ellingson:

Texting in from a ladder in the middle of Austria where I'm painting a mural. Anyway, great tunes. You mentioned earlier that 1993 was ten years ago but it was twenty years ago. So, I guess it's even more impressive that the band hasn't missed a beat with their new release.

Really enjoying the show this AM, Mr. DJ!

why do I love 60's Punk so...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am

@Josh - Well, that's embarrassing. Though at 7 am, I can't be expected to know the difference between 10 and 20.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am
fred:

@Paul: I wouldn't fare any better. Did you stay up all night or have you had any sleep?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That Emitt Rhodes reminded me of Nilsson a bit. Masses of great stuff in the 70s, but someone says '70s' & we're conditioned to go 'blehh'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30am
DJ PB:

@Fred - Up all night, though I slept most of the day Saturday. I'll be fine but this will likely be a flub-filled fill-in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
fred:

@RRN63: I think I despise the 80's more than the 70's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am
fred:

@Paul: Coffee is you friend. All-nighters like these are the only time I set foot in a Starbucks: the only place I can order a pint of coffee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Well - it's more the Mainstream Vs. Underground/Alt thing generally I suppose ('cause I think Teardrop Explodes & Husker Du, &tc. ...)
...hearing a bunch of OldiesRadio & such, I realized that I don't hate Top40 per se - but we basically parted ways mid-70s about when Punk as we know it started (why weren't The Ramones Top40?? & all that)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am
DJ PB:

@Fred - Unfortunately, Starbucks isn't open at the time I arrived at the station. But I am well-caffeinated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
fred:

@RRN63: speaking of Top40, have you listened to Nat Roe's chartsweeps/supercuts?
  7:40am
Jess:

Hiiii Paul! (it's Jess & Billy!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am
DJ PB:

Hey Jess and Billy! Just getting home?
  7:44am
Jess:

Billy took off last night in prep for a prison trip he's making in a few mins... FUN! & I just happened to go to bed at 10 last night. Glad I woke up in time to catch some of your show. Good stuff, mannn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ropers reminds me a little of Stephin Merritt but as a RockBand. Most grateful to be exposed to this stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am

@RRN63: look here: blog.wfmu.org...
He did mixes with 10 seconds of each top charting single in each year from 1959 to 2011
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am

A prison trip! I'm assuming that's "fishing trip" and autocorrect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
DJ PB:

Though who knows what Billy's into!
  7:46am
Jess:

You assume incorrectly. (Trip is to visit...not to "check in")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am

Ah, well now I feel like a jerk. More so than usual.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am

I don't like the streams. They compete against real DJs but don't raise nearly the money. If I want to listen to Pandora, I'll do that. WFMU is all about people and personalities. Tom Hanks can go back to the island.
Avatar 8:53am
Cheri Pi:

no, i think it's from tapioca starch RRN63. it's decent w/ marmite backing it up.

@Mike - would said friend happen to be in Screaming Females? I picked up that split on Record Store Day...but my record player is currently out of commission. Can't wait to give it a listen. & AWESOME JOB PAUL

@Jess - yes! I saw it on the shelf at the record store yesterday, but was committed to picking up "Fade" YLT...hopefully it'll still be there in a few weeks when I re-up my disposable income. I grew a with those guys...went to HS with the drummer

I honestly don't listen to other FMU streams much - & there is the issue of competing against oneself...For that matter, my brain has yet to even process the reality of Archives! (I think realtime programming helps me structure time - & honestly gives illusion of participation...)
- I like having Options, tho'! (I give ComCast enuff $ for the connection)...
