You've got some mighty shoes to fill there, Paul. But don't fret, you'll pull it off, you're already off to a good start

Terre should be back next week!

Thanks Kevin, Fred, Rabbit, Sean and everybody for listening and checking in.

I haven't heard Terre's show in ages (I'm not often home on Saturdays), so I'm a bit let down as hers was my gateway show to the station.
But this is GOOD!

Danne D:

Yay Paulie B :) good stuff for a torrentially rainy day

The dark skies & thunder make for snazzy special FX, but the severe thunderstorm warning is overdoing it a bit. Enjoying the tunes, though!

@Mike East - Rain is in the forecast for Seattle for the next couple of days.
  4:06pm
Danne D:

hey Fred good to see you :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
fred:

I only saw The Fall once. They had an interesting item for sale, a lighter with a groove so that it could serve as a beer bottle opener for clumsy people like me. WFMU swag made it redundant, but I regret not getting that. I should own my deficiencies, especially when endorsed by such luminaries
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Mike East:

yeah, I dig it, simon. rain makes everything so GREEEN.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
fred:

@Danne: I guess you're not being laughed at as much as Bengal these days. Especially by Jets fans
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm

only there's no terrestrial WFMU signal out there.

The same could be said of most of the places in the world where I would choose to live, Mike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
fred:

@Mike East: Embrace the digital (in this case). WFMU means a lot to many locally underground scenes in Europe now. They get airplay they don't get in their own countries
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm
Mike East:

yeah, I guess I shouldn't base my decision on where to live based on my reluctance to get a "smart"phone. Bend, Oregon, here I come!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
pacific standard simon:

I moved up here from San Francisco; I thought I would have to subscribe to MLB.com in order to continue following my SF Giants (blacked-out on the internet stream of The Giants flagship radio station). But now I find that the Portland affiliate streams the games.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
fred:

@Mike East: I don't have a mobile phone, dumb or smart. I hear about unknown bands on the station at home or work, then I see them live. Well over a hundred times a year. Cheap gigs too, a better investment than a phone

amEdeo! I scored some delightful homemade onigiri yesterday. I really should learn how to make these
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm

@amEdeo: Yuzu, then umeboshi, and my favorite: katsuobushi. I'm a longtime anorexic, but I'd gorge on katsuobushi onigiri
Avatar 4:49pm
amEdeo:

OoOo! I don't think I've ever had Yuzu before. Oh boy. WANT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
Stevel:

I'm having trouble turning this up loud enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
fred:

@amEdeo: I think Yuzu is tastier in cakes or other sugary stuff, but its combination with rice is really interesting, especially with crispier, harder rice. Now I'm getting hungry too

Avatar 5:05pm

Now I am looking at pictures of adorable Onigiri on the internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm
fred:

@amEdeo: I can't do that. I'm spoiled because of Japanese friends who do such great ones I can't find any acceptable commercial substitute. It's a rare treat for me, and I just enjoy it when I can.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm
fred:

I would have gone vegetarian, but I just couldn't give up Katsuobushi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm
Blacktooth:

Wow, Purling Hiss really streamlined their sound. I can dig it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm

@Blacktooth: I wish I could see them live. But with a label like Drag City, they're probably out of my price range now
Avatar 5:26pm

Hi Paul & everybody! OH YES my Brutha from Anotha Mutha bestie Paulie B filling in for me finally! Luvin this show- Can't listen but quick peeking at playlist. (Wish I could be there but I'm taking 2 -week a Ninja Training Course!)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm

@Terre: So we won't know when you're back until you hit us devastatingly? Works for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm

Now, I just picked up the Purling Hiss album. Please stop playing good music, as soon I will be broke.
Avatar 5:35pm
Terre T:

@PacificStandardSimon - ha! Unfortunately I don't think I could thwart a mugger by impressing them with a tight segue of 2 one minute ponk toons!
@PaulieB I LOVE that u played "2Sisters" on yr 1st fill-in for me-- that's *our* song !! So the circle is complete :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
