Hi EFD :) Well at least Halladay was nice enough to blow up against other players on my team!
  9:12pm
Danne D:

Is the IX Key near the "Any" key?
  9:14pm
Destroit:

PDS song is great. Simple but effective.
  9:15pm
G:

There was actually an X key on some keyboards in the 80s. It was like the command key on other keyboards. I X Key could explain if that's related or not...

My brother Tim was the drummer for Robin Lane. He just completed a movie about her called A Woman's Voice. Robin Lane was once Neil Young's girlfriend (she might've been the cinnamon girl) and she does music therapy in MA these days. Helpfully, Will

Hi Tweetophonic Todd :) welcome aboard :)
Hi to all the other folks EFD listed as well :)
  9:51pm
Matt from Springfield:

Cheap Time! They offer a cheap, but fun time. Much like Evan Funk Davies Show!!
  9:51pm
john:

Hey folks! Neil's had a few stories about Cinnamon Girl, mostly because he was married when he wrote it in '68, so Robin Lane presumably wasn't "the" Cinnamon Girl, dates are kind of off by a couple years, but it's a nice thought, as she did sing on that album.
  9:52pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

So it's Cheap Time vs Red Mass for sheer skronk glory.
  9:53pm

EBM classics and rarities from 1980-1988! What's *not* to like?!!

Hello Evan!
(Don't tell Joe's cat--it will get Bark-envious...)
  10:01pm
Joe D.:

nah he's alright, he's real laid back, he's what you might call ONE COOL CAT

oh god I'm a cat person now officially aren't I
  10:01pm
Joe B:

and of course Robin Lane was the duet vocalist with Neil on Round and Round on Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

In the waiting room where the vermin squirm. I gotta find a vet with some gottdam standards.
  10:02pm

The Devils Dancers actually do a routine to this song (original version) - not exactly your typical dance routine fare.

This JSBE version is great :)

Anyone else hooked on the Charles County cat cam since Irwin posted the link a while back?
  10:03pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Whither Ram Jam?
  10:03pm
Danne D:

@Joe B - not to be confused with EFD's performance of "Round and Round" at the 2007 Hoof N Mouth Finale :)
  10:06pm
Joe B:

DD, I almost added that exact clarification!
  10:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Did EFD sing Ratt at the H&M, then?? Since it wasn't Neil's?
  10:08pm
Danne D:

For those not in the know, Evan's video is the 13th one on the left: http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/03/post.html
  10:11pm
Danne D:

This Phillies-Braves game has been nutty.
6-0 Phils
Then 8-6 Braves
Then 12-8 Phils
Now 12-10 Phils but Braves have bases loaded.

Crazy
  10:12pm
Danne D:

12-12 now
  10:12pm
john:

I'm just hopeful that game is blowing out the combined relief corps of half the teams in my other league, where you need set up men.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm

Joe D., when you start posting pics of this cat on Facebook then I'll believe it. (Also, then you'll be a cat person.)

Barkevious, I think Joe B. can give you a little bit of a Ram Jam update if he's still with us!

Danne, I hope Johnny Venters isn't giving up any of those runs.
  10:15pm

Wow, and it has the "Knuckles the Dog" performance too!! :)
  10:15pm
Danne D:

13-12 Braves now.
  10:16pm
Danne D:

Venters has not pitched, EFD.

@Matt yup, there's some good stuff in there.
  10:17pm
Danne D:

A little hard to complain about McCann's inning-ending flyout there as he did have a Grand Slam (unfortunately off Halladay) earlier.
  10:17pm
Danne D:

@EFD (I was properly discreet with that '07 Hoof N Mouth reference, no?)
  10:19pm
Tom - In Gravesend Brooklyn:

one after the "Black Betty" RamJam "Portrait of the Artist As a Young Ram" ,,, one of my faves when it came out .. NO one had it but me !! hehe
  10:21pm
Danne D:

Kimbrel in - only chance Venters play is if it goes extras.
  10:21pm
Nick H:

Not a bad Black Betty cover also done a few years ago by Australian band Spiderbait.
  10:22pm

efd, digging the Rainy Day Saints, very 80s anthemic
  10:44pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Listening to the guy in the renegades mangle the chords at the start of their classic, I'm convinced that the better a player you are, the less likely you are to come up with good music. You end up wearing a fooking cape like that twat Rick Wakeman.
  10:45pm
Danne D:

going to extras in atlanta
  10:48pm
Holly in NC:

@Barkevious - James Brown owns the cape action. And Screaming Jay. And maybe Screaming Lord Sutch?
  10:48pm
Danne D:

They will be going to a 5th period (aka 2nd Overtime) in Washington between the Caps and Rag$.

Pitcher got Jones down 0-2 and could not polish him off after about 7 or 8 pitches...

Venters did not give up the homer. Had 1 inning, 2K, 0 hits.
  11:11pm
Skirkie:

I hate sports. Whats happening in here?
  11:13pm
eddy:

"heartache avenue" was actually a big hit in england at the time - possibly even top 10.
  11:15pm
G:

Wikipedia, Maisonettes: "Their debut single, "Heartache Avenue", reached number 7 on the UK Singles Chart in 1982, and later peaked at number 12 on the Canadian chart and number 97 in Australia in early 1983. The song was discovered by David Virr in a pile of demo tapes in his office, and had been recorded in Birmingham by singer Lol Mason, guitarist Mark Tibenham, and session drummer Nick Parry. Virr decided to put it out on his own label, which he named Ready Steady Go!"

7 RBI Carlos Ruiz rode the pine for the Ratmen tonight.

  11:21pm
Short Order Guy:

How the f--- d'ya make a Ticket Salad Sandwich??? Jeez.
  11:23pm
G:

Can't resist this bit from the Maisonettes entry in Wiki: "To fill out the band, two teenage models, Denise Ward and Elaine Williams, were recruited as backing vocalists (although "Heartache Avenue" had been recorded with different female singers. As it turned out, however, Ward and Williams could not harmonize well enough to sing with the band live or in the studio, though by the time this was decided, they had already appeared often with the group in media photos and miming on television."
  11:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Short Order: Easy man: ya call WFMU, 201-209-9368, get the tickets, and just make the chicken salad with the tickets instead.

Hey, and when I get the sandwich, can I sub the chips for coleslaw?
  11:29pm
Short Order Guy:

NO SUBSTITUTIONS!!!!! JEEZUS GOD.
  11:31pm
Droll:

Short Order Guy, Are you talking about The Maisonettes vocalists, or the Midnight Ticket Oasis?
  11:32pm
Short Order Guy:

No substitutions is a good policy in any line o' work. Give 'em an inch, they take a mile, yknow?
  11:32pm
Holly in NC:

@droll - nice!
  11:33pm

I can't believe this. An ABBA song that doesn't make me want to throw up!
  11:41pm

LOL Skirkie just mad about his coaching misdeed - we've all been there :)

Exciting game - all should tune in after EFD if you are so inclined :)
