Favoriting April 25, 2012: TERRY MALTS live set!

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

As far as we know, Terry Malts haven't co-opted the old "Blondie Is A Group" tag line/rallying cry, but they might want to consider it. The Bay Area three-piece -- which includes no one named "Terry" OR "Malts" -- bring their distortion-filled punky pop to WFMU as they hit the east coast in support of their fine new full-length, Killing Time (Slumberland). If you enjoy simple catchy punk rock songs covered with a nice fuzzy blanket of... well, fuzz, then check out this live set.

  9:19pm
Holly in NC:

Hi Randy!
Bigass, you must be staying in a house with better trash than mine. I hope your new friends are treating you well.
  9:20pm
Bigass Palmetto Bug:

saw these guys at Mercury Lounge on Friday night after hearing you play them last week. rad!
  9:36pm
Aharon:

The TMs were great and very warmly received at the Mercury Lounge on Friday. The book I read on the subway there mentioned the Black Flag song "Six Pack," apropos of very little else in the narrative. Then they played it for their encore! Wheels within wheels...
  9:39pm
kate:

this is an amazing set, wish i would have caught them at mercury lounge!
  9:45pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

More pink flag than black. Tanfastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm
efd:

Great that you guys saw them, keving and Aharon, and glad they got a good response. They actually said the Mercury show was the better of the two in NYC.

kate, you'll catch 'em next time!
  9:46pm

Wendy del Formaggio:

Ooh ooh, I just got home from my radio show in time to hear EFD! And the last few moments of Terry Malts. Sounded great! And I hear the engineer is really cute.
  10:04pm
Mike East:

hey Wendy! I was talking to Carly as SIR and she clued me in to your relation to sed engineer. The world is very small, indeed.
  10:05pm

Game 7 of Caps-Bruins going to OT. Time to take the dog for a quick walk.

...and great sound on that live set as well. You could definitely hear that signature Luttman wall of sound.
  10:14pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Mike East! Carly is a great gal. Yes, the engineer is my fella, and the world is teensy. I kinda like it that way. Makes it easy to get around and meet people.
  10:15pm
Danne D:

(Btw I pick Ovi to get the winner for the Caps)
  10:15pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

"Luttman wall of sound"! I'm kvelling!
  10:19pm
Mike East:

for sure. I sit at her old desk at Carroll. I think I was subrenting something from her and mentioned that I saw Glenn on the Best Show marathon videostream. He kept popping up right in front of the camera! It was great! He does run a nice sound board.

  10:30pm
Danne D:

okay I'm here now everyone :) Hooray for the Capitals.
  10:31pm
Mike East:

made a few attempts at the Tribecca Film Fest last weekend. Waited on line for an hour and didn't get in the first time, but then on the next try got a pair of free tickets...so it balanced out.

@Wendy - that has to be the coolest of all WFMU volunteer spots. He's lucky he got it, and Tom's lucky to have him.
  10:32pm
miss cheri:

what's happening danne??
  10:34pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Don't know if I liked Miguel + swell or Unnatural Helpers more. Damned fine progrim as usual.

Sox win assisted by a hideous call in the Twins 9th on a foul ball that the first base ump sitting right on top of it called fair. Replays and every conceivable law of physics proved it foul, and not really that close.

This song nearly mitigates the hair and suspenders thing. From 2 rooms down, over a tinny mono speaker.
  11:57pm
john:

Spoken like a true fantasy owner of Aceves there, Danne! I'm just stumped how a ball Gonzalez nearly caught in the dugout could have been called fair...btw, though I was never that big a Bobby V fan, I'm totally on his side here. He knows exactly what he's saying.
