	7:44pm Nashville Noah: I used to collect bottle caps as a kid, then when my dad managed a liquor distributor, I collected sealed beer cans...many years attending the nerdiest conventions ever, which would be for comics. Then music kicked in VERY heavily and everything else fell by the side.

	7:46pm dale: paint by numbers. 40s and 50s figural planters. griswold cast iron cookware. smoking jackets and wacky 40s ties. early 60s cars. old honda motorcycles (gasp) shortwave radios......
	7:46pm FreddieB: Before ebay took all the fun out of it, I used to collect 10 commandment charm bracelets -- used to find them at church rummage sales and thrift stores. My favorites were the novelty figurals -- little charms that were supposed to represent the various commandments, like a sexy babe for thou shalt not commit adultery. Also had a lenticular bracelet that, seen one way would read the commandment and then seen the other, would again illustrate the commandment. I think I ended up with nearly 100 of 'em, and I'm probably the most nonreligious person you would meet.
	7:47pm Parq: Collections? Well, I recently decided it was time to start using up my ginormous matchbook collection (we have an old-fashioned hand-light stove), which goes back to my college days. Been lighting matches from collegiate haunts, from my brief period of trying to rise through the echelons of the plutocracy in the heart of the 80s, through the places we celebrated with our kid, with stops in some 12 or 15 locales elsewhere in the US, Canada and western Europe. A tremendous nostalgia journey. Memories, of course, make for the best collections.

	7:52pm joe: I start collecting things then lose interest. Mostly paper items - baseball cards, Old Farmer's Almanacs, bookmarks, menus, etc. The only one that's really stuck with me is bookmarks. This evening I am sorting through a recently found mass of keys I had collected as a kid.

	7:56pm dale: i watched an episoode of bbc's 'cash in the attic' and what struck me was that stuff that brought the most bang for the buck at auctions was paper ephemera - postcards and documents with autographs.
	7:59pm listener gary: I started a collection of what auctioneers called high school art, wooden objects that boys were taught to make their first year in wood shop...corner shelves, brackets, scones, decoartive wall items, etc, made of plywood and shellaced. To give them some life I put ceranic dogs from the flea market on them...also granny sq afgans,,,and books, books...books..books.

	8:11pm tom: I have lots of collections but what I can't get enough of now are 1930s-1950s factory/plant photo ID pinback buttons. They are usually surrounded by neat industrial looking metal frames with cool deco graphics and you get an interesting photo portrait of a working stiff from back in the day when WE MADE THINGS IN THIS COUNTRY!!! Pretty pricey on eBay these days so yard sales are my beat. Women from WWII plants go for $200 plus, kind of a Rosie the Riveter thing I guess

I am in the winter of my years and I have closets full of boxes of things I packed up twelve years ago when I decided to go minimalist and rid myself of "trash".I have since moved three times and lugged them with me.I don't even know what is in those boxes...oh, yeah, I have three boxes of plaid shirts. I thought when I got really OLD some day I would make wool plaid quilts. I mean, where is my head!!!
	8:19pm dale: gary, i was gonna make a quilt out of my vintage bowling shirts using the backs and names. even bought a quilting machine. then i didn't have the guts to cut them up.

	8:21pm philosofish: When we wife's aunt died, we inherited her collection of souvenir cigarette ashtrays from the 50s and early 60s. (Neither of us smoke.) So now they're our collection. They're pretty funky and interesting, with graphics from West Coast places like Reno's Horseshoe Club, La Sierra Motel (in Tijuana) and Las Vegas hotel/casinos: the Aladdin, the Sahara, and the Showboat.

	7:56pm dale: i watched an episoode of bbc's 'cash in the attic' and what struck me was that stuff that brought the most bang for the buck at auctions was paper ephemera - postcards and documents with autographs.
	7:59pm listener gary: I started a collection of what auctioneers called high school art, wooden objects that boys were taught to make their first year in wood shop...corner shelves, brackets, scones, decoartive wall items, etc, made of plywood and shellaced. To give them some life I put ceranic dogs from the flea market on them...also granny sq afgans,,,and books, books...books..books.

	8:11pm tom: I have lots of collections but what I can't get enough of now are 1930s-1950s factory/plant photo ID pinback buttons. They are usually surrounded by neat industrial looking metal frames with cool deco graphics and you get an interesting photo portrait of a working stiff from back in the day when WE MADE THINGS IN THIS COUNTRY!!! Pretty pricey on eBay these days so yard sales are my beat. Women from WWII plants go for $200 plus, kind of a Rosie the Riveter thing I guess

I am in the winter of my years and I have closets full of boxes of things I packed up twelve years ago when I decided to go minimalist and rid myself of "trash".I have since moved three times and lugged them with me.I don't even know what is in those boxes...oh, yeah, I have three boxes of plaid shirts. I thought when I got really OLD some day I would make wool plaid quilts. I mean, where is my head!!!
	8:19pm dale: gary, i was gonna make a quilt out of my vintage bowling shirts using the backs and names. even bought a quilting machine. then i didn't have the guts to cut them up.

	8:21pm philosofish: When we wife's aunt died, we inherited her collection of souvenir cigarette ashtrays from the 50s and early 60s. (Neither of us smoke.) So now they're our collection. They're pretty funky and interesting, with graphics from West Coast places like Reno's Horseshoe Club, La Sierra Motel (in Tijuana) and Las Vegas hotel/casinos: the Aladdin, the Sahara, and the Showboat.
