Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from July 22, 2011 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Listener comments!

  12:22pm
bryce:

oh hi
  12:22pm
le screech:

let us in!! oh..
  12:25pm
fleep:

Tentative applause. Audience unsure.
  12:26pm
hamburger / london:

holy.. doodoo
  12:27pm
Cecile:

I dunno. I never quite get him. Neither fish nor fowl to me.
  12:30pm
bryce:

he's a big spazzo
  12:32pm
hubba:

Where are we going now?
  12:33pm
Cecile:

I guess it's more theatre sometimes than music.
  12:33pm
andymorphic:

i saw him at the guelph jazz fest ...did a free show where he walked into the tent. put a high hat in the middle of a table, tie a string to it then walked to the stage and played the high hat by pulling on the string....better than most would with sticks.
  12:34pm
Jim Strang:

I don't know--at least you can tell he's playing. Back in 2002 my college had Keith Rowe and Toshi Nakamura playing at our student union in September and people kept clapping by accident when the AC compressor came on in the auditorium because it was the loudest noise going on.
  12:34pm
bryce:

hahaaa, that's amazing
  12:35pm
bryce:

if people are doing it, it's music
  12:35pm
bryce:

even if they're not doing it
  12:36pm
big spazzo:

IT'S MUSIC.
  12:36pm
kimm:

or while they're doing it.
  12:36pm
Cecile:

I think I wasn't in the mood, and he was being extra cutesy that night. Maybe on another day
  12:37pm
hubba:

so, music is "doing"? what about "being?" Or, is "doing"-"being?"
  12:38pm
big spazzo:

it's okay.
  12:39pm
hubba:

listening is doing; being is doing; it must be human if it is music, something is being done.
  12:39pm
andymorphic:

he values performance. most artist don't these days.
  12:40pm
coelacanth:

...maybe being is doing.
  12:40pm
kim:

why must it be human?
  12:41pm
Ike:

Love love love this Kubisch and Plessi.
  12:41pm
coelacanth:

oh,nevermind
  12:43pm
coelacanth:

no, it musn't be human.
  12:45pm
hubba:

Everything is human, or it is nothing. So, nothing is human?
  12:45pm
annie:

ok,ok... fine a little late, but i'm here.... hi bryce, et all les autres!
  12:47pm
coelacanth:

("mustn't"?) oh,hi.
  12:47pm
bryce:

annie!
  12:47pm
annie:

i do still love you bryce, have no worries..
  12:47pm
Cecile:

hola, annie!
  12:48pm
Cecile:

what are today's specials?
  12:49pm
annie:

ahh.. calimari, clam chowder to die for, roasted salmon with jasmine rice and broccoli, to name a few.. avoid the burger.
  12:50pm
giraffe:

pretty pretty
  12:52pm
Ike:

Hey, forgot to ask y'all until now -- saw a cool strange performance by a skinny blonde as part of Outback Nexus on Governors Island a few weeks ago but didn't catch her name -- any ideas folks? Blurry cellphone pic:
http://ho.io/outbacknexus
  12:52pm
kim:

hiiii bbrrryycce! this is nice!
  12:52pm
coelacanth:

Where are you I want that! (well not the squid but the rest)...I was just gonns fry some chick peas on the sidewalk.
  12:53pm
annie:

hehe,, upstate new york...
  12:53pm
le screech:

what are those boxes?
  12:55pm
coelacanth:

up from ulster county (where i live, but am not now)?
  12:56pm
zziss:

91.1 signal... where are you?
  12:57pm

  1:00pm
coelacanth:

hamden...heard if it. i think it's far, for lunch...Do you run a b&b or something?
  1:01pm
Ike:

@Screech: Some kind of homemade sound devices, not sure... shaped like turntables. Wish there was a video somewhere. My brain failed in the heat and I didn't catch any info (and it wasn't even as close to as hot as it is today).
  1:04pm
Carmichael:

I wish that person would be finished shoveling snow soon.
  1:06pm
annie:

  1:08pm
coelacanth:

  1:14pm
giraffe:

  1:16pm
bryce:

try to stay still. it's cooler in the bathroom.
  1:16pm
le screech:

the option to override automatic detonation expires in T minus 5 minutes
  1:16pm
tahomajohn:

Hy Bryce
  1:17pm
bryce:

hey!
  1:18pm
tahomajohn:

I see a polar bear hiding from a giant penguin in a snow bank .
  1:19pm
Carmichael:

I understand that all of you East of, say, the Rockies have achieved an abundance of warmth. I hope you can survive it until cooler weather comes along. Really Bryce, "Radiatore"?
  1:19pm
tahomajohn:

here's a little bit of phenom you probably won't be too thrilled by, but what the heck, i was... shall i spill it?
  1:20pm
WTF:

  1:21pm
tahomajohn:

It almost hit 70 degrees F in Tacoma yesterday.. omg it was ... awful. I mean, awfully nice.
  1:24pm
tahomajohn:

But that's not the phenom i was alluding to... what that was: I saw an actual Relic of WFMU's sacred past here in Tacoma last night...
  1:24pm
coelacanth:

so the bear the bird and the snow bank were...NOT ? a mirage?
  1:26pm
Cecile:

sounds deeee-lish.
  1:27pm
tahomajohn:

Sounds like the digestive system of a scirocco... about to seriously flatulate.
  1:28pm

  1:30pm
tahomajohn:

Last night I went into a local coffee shop (Amocat Cafe) here in Tacoma Wa for an open studio draw-fest sponsored by The Cartoonist's League of Absurd Washingtonians ...
  1:31pm
tahomajohn:

and the models being drawn were the local roller-derby warrior/goddesses (Dockyard Derby Dames) -- awesome fun even though my drawing skills suck
  1:32pm
tahomajohn:

and hanging on the wall at the Amocat Cafe was a framed Daniel Johnston/Yp La Tengo– Speeding Motorcycle vinyl 45 Recorded live at WFMU-FM! Here in Tacoma.. woohoo!
  1:33pm

Bryce, the nerds in the office want to know what's happening in the melt2 picture, and please, feel free to get as technical as possible, we can take it.
  2:39pm
bruceleh:

And what is melting in melt1? Too thick for paint. Some sort of insulation?
  2:42pm
bruceleh:

My guess is that it's some sort of harmonic distortion causing inverse reactive current overheating in the reciprocating dingle arm.
  2:43pm
Van:

Another Dallas listener dropping in for a while. Pretty weird that NY is hotter than Dallas today.
