Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from July 15, 2011 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Listener comments!

  12:18pm
Cecile:

very good to work to.
  12:19pm
George of Troy:

Ahoy, Bryce! Nice start to the set today.
  12:20pm
bryce:

hallo! a little mind scrubbing....
  12:23pm
Carmichael:

I almost didn't notice the music. Strange.
  12:24pm
Handsome Harry:

Great stuff.
  12:24pm
bryce:

you're supposed to press your skull against the speaker
  12:26pm
Carmichael:

I have my computer speakers duct-taped to my ears.
  12:28pm
ken:

More Reike than Tui Na, massaged brain feels better!
  12:28pm
fanatic:

I have removed small patches of flesh in order to press my skull directly against the speaker.
  12:30pm
bryce:

excellent. now to address that blood-brain volume....
  12:33pm
fanatic:

blood-brain volume should be sufficient to last through 3:00 PM.
  12:36pm
Carmichael:

My next band will be called BloodBrain.
  12:39pm
hubba:

music to compliment devastating structural impariment we are all experiencing.

I was about ready to cry till I stapled my headphones on side orifices.
  12:46pm
Mike East:

my headphones broke again, goddamnit. stapling won't help, either. I have no right channel!
  12:50pm
Jay/ London:

@ mike east can you not put it into mono till you fix them
  12:53pm
fanatic:

@ mike, just move your right ear next to your left one.
  12:54pm
Mike East:

it throws me off balance cuz I don't get any sound in the right ear. For the moment, I'm fine as I'm listening on some computer speakers that a very generous WFMU listener donated to me.
  12:55pm
Mike East:

@fanatic - Thats a great idea, I don't know why I didn't think of it...now where's my antiseptic?
  12:58pm
Mike East:

aha, I've got some purell, a leatherman, and a stapler. That should do the trick.
  1:00pm
hubba:

Mike East in 120 Minutes... guest starring Kennedy
  1:04pm
BM:

This low-end rumble is getting things moving...
  1:08pm
Ike:

Headphones aren't built to last [grumble grumble old-man-style grumble] -- my ancient Sony MDR-V6s from the early 90s, however, still work great, even though the foam earpads are going to pieces, but they're too warm and heavy for summer. Everything I've bought since then fails in one channel within two years. Must be whole landfills of dead earbuds and headphones out there. GRRRR.
  1:12pm
Mike East:

I agree, Ike. I think its time I get something heavier duty. I have the koss portapros which I've already had to send once for repair. They do it for free, just charge for shipping. They sound good and they're comfortable, but not very durable.
  1:15pm
northguineahills:

Eleh would go great w/ this set.
  1:21pm
WHAT?:

Is the track that is currently playing the Gorilla Aktiv track? Oh, man. So good.
  1:22pm
hubba:

das geicht?
  1:26pm
Handsome Harry:

"Frömmigkeit" is gettin' it done.
  1:26pm
Stevie:

Yeah - I agree. This rules.
  1:27pm
Laughter:

Is spewing from my mouth... this track is laughter supreme. I needed that.
  1:32pm
Headphones:

I've been using the Sennheiser HD 600s for a while. They're great although the open air element makes them not very versatile.
  1:32pm
hubba:

North West freak funk... this brings back some memories
  1:35pm
bruceleh:

Headphones are manufactured with planned obsolescence.
In order to have the cheapest manufacturing costs, the solder from the cord to the speakers is minimal.
Repeated twisting of the cable, i.e. normal use, cause the solder to come loose.
If you're a wirehead, you can fix it yourself, if you can get to where the speakers are wired to the cable. But this is quite difficult with small headphones.
The upshot is that suckers like us, all the world over, buy new headphones every 6 mos - 2 years.
  1:37pm
northguineahills:

I rarely listen to WFMU through my hi-fi while at home (made an exception for Bryce), and every time I hear the vinyl crackling at the end of each track I run back to my turntables in my studio thinking I need to flip a record or put another one on..
  1:38pm
Snortley:

Sennheiser is great because of the readily-available repair parts. I lost a channel on mine, and easily got a replacement cord - best of all, it just plugs in, no soldering.
  1:41pm
Marshall Stacks:

Bryce ROCKS!

I feel nicer already.
  1:43pm
Parq:

I don't really use hadphones any more. If people around me don't like what I'm listenting to, I invite them to leave.
  1:45pm
bruceleh:

And if they decline the invitation?
  1:47pm
Mike East:

then they can go eff themselves, right?
  1:48pm
THE HOT GUTS OF TAYLOR SWIFT:

or fisticuffs ensue.
  1:49pm
Mike East:

I only use them on the bus, so portability is my main concern...though I've also been known to lose them on the bus...along with my phone
  1:49pm
hubba:

I use headphones for immersion, but at work it is for escape. Hearing people talk about heart burn from McDonalds and their dog licking a three-week old wound makes me queasy.
  1:53pm
paul:

best Hrvatski song ever!!!! ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:55pm
Mike East:

hubba, that's exactly why I need them on the bus. I hate listening to one side of people's cell phone conversations (even though there are plenty of "no cell phone" signs). I just tune it all out. I like the direction you're going in today, Bryce. I'm not tuning anything out, but I'm tuning you in.
  1:59pm
hubba:

Like on light rail when people put their cell phone volume up as loud as possible so they can hear their songs... but when like 3 or more people within proximity do it, I wonder... I like it because it reminds me of some record I'd hear on WFMU.
  2:00pm
hubba:

Whatever happened to Tigerbeat6?
  2:02pm
paul:

they mostly release digital stuff now, and most of it's pretty tepid club music and electroclash. Cex all of a sudden is back to making IDM, and he's more stereotypically IDM than ever, making 15 minute tracks that go nowhere. TB6 did release a new Cardopusher album which is pretty good, tho.
  2:02pm
Parq:

I'm sorry, I hadn't meant to include portable earbuds (I know that some people use full headphones on the go, but I got enough to carry around). I have a pair of Senz that aren't that loud, but they have a volume control on the cord, which I like a lot. By the way, that Hravatski track sounded like my mind today.
  2:03pm
J J:

Music be slammin' today like a hunk of wet salami bashing in my face.
  2:06pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

the show has been great today, what I've heard of it
  2:07pm
hubba:

I remember going to shows in the bay area and seeing randomly thrown together shows... Blechdom from Blectum... Wobbly... Crack W.A.R... I think People Like Us was there once or twice.
  2:10pm
paul:

same here except it was in NJ and jason forrest and ocdj were at a lot of them.
  2:17pm
hubba:

Why did laptop stuff just kinda go away? I went to no fun fest in 2005, and the best act was Hecker... it melted my mind... more so than many of the other nosie bands... except for maybe Macronympha... that was out of control.
  2:18pm
hubba:

oh you!
  2:20pm
bryce:

i was literally running to get that stuff when you commented.....
  2:22pm
still b/p:

Speakin' of sheep -- just got an important message from an unfortunate woman who needs my help accessing her late husband's giant pile o' money in a London bank, and she says, "you will wait for us to arrive in your country for shearing of the money ."
Exactly.
  2:22pm
hubba:

my daughter, the next generation, loves the 3" cds I have... she lets me relive the excitement and I get to share it with her... you rule!
  2:26pm
Cecile:

I like this stuff because it's only about two steps to the side of really raw Chicago house.
  2:29pm
bennett4senate:

gimme a B!
  2:30pm
Cecile:

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
  2:30pm
bryce:

yo!
  2:31pm
bennett4senate:

gimme a R!
  2:33pm
hubba:

I took the Rufus, Romancing the Stone reference...this stuff, along with the clicks and cuts stuff and Force Inc , as well as an old Gf that was into drum n bass, or whatever was in the Bay Area brought me into contact with chicago house and I'm still diggin it up, don't really know much... Cecile, do you know of a good source for me to reference?
  2:34pm
bennett4senate:

what does that spell? brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  2:35pm
Cecile:

I have been looking up every name I see on my Pandora chicago house station, checking YouTube, and 5 Magazine is a great source of info. i have been googling pretty much everything and I'm not even close to knowing more than a ltitle about it.
  2:36pm
Cecile:

About the only Chi-town house I caught as it was happening was Ten City, and I still love them, even though they are kind of OTT.
  2:36pm
Cecile:

I also ask DJ Duane a lot of questions. LOL!
  2:38pm
bennett4senate:

Kyle Hall is doing great stuff in Chicago right now, on the more soulful house end, and then for the clickety rough stuff there's Urban Tribe, from Detroit. Plus all the juke/footwork trax coming outta Chi are bananas, DJ Nate etc
  2:39pm
Cecile:

*taking notes* I'm on a Ron Trent kick right now. God Bless the YouTube house crazies.
  2:41pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

ha ha. I got cheesecake.
  2:42pm
#K:

man good thing I'm not there it sounds like FMU would explode with volunteers
  2:44pm
Cecile:

I looked Kyle Hall. Just a baby!
  2:44pm
andymorphic:

so in love with delia...anyone see that doc on the radiophonic workshop?
  2:45pm
hubba:

I'm licking the cheese off of a double quarter pounder wrapper I found in the break room... I see a peach seed with some stuff on it... hopefully it is peach?
  2:45pm
bryce:

NO GET OVER HERE NOW
  2:45pm
northguineahills:

i need to see that doc!
  2:46pm
Marmalade Kitty:

This is cool I love this.. Gadget!
  2:51pm
Ike:

@Hubba: Are you a squirrel?
  2:54pm
hubba:

I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut to move your butt on the dance floor... one of my first cds was C & C Music Factory... but I'm no squirrel... I'm merely a savant of the state... somewhat parasitic.
  2:59pm
bryce:

byeeeeeee thanks!
  3:00pm
#K:

aw geez I want to but I'm at werk!
  3:10pm
Ike:

WOAH! Did anybody else see the playlist have a confused digital spaghetti conniption just now when Bryce closed it!? That was awesome.

Sorry I couldn't access the database❤Sorry I couldn't access the database❤Sorry I couldn't access the database❤Sorry I couldn't access the database❤❤❤❤❤
  3:36pm
Kenzo:

The database ❤ Ike
  4:08pm
Database:

The same conniption occurred for about 10 minutes during the Triumvirate show yesterday, maybe about 5:10-5:20.
