helsingfred:

Top o' the morning to you !
  3:02am
ausmanx:

good evening, ms julie. goodness, empire...where do you start? anyway, it's the national day of the Isle of Man today (where the Manx come from) and that's easier to celebrate than the 4th of July's imperium... and of course it means i am hoping you have something by the Isle of Man's finest, the Bee Gees
  3:04am
Julie:

Hi there Gentlemen!
  3:09am

Ah, Julie, so good to hear your voice again. It was very cool that you dropped in here on the playlist from time to time while you were away, but we're all here listening to WFMU because of the importance we give to how things SOUND!

Marmalade Kitty:

Rise is a good song to start the day with!
  4:34am
helsingfred:

Last week I saw Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School of Medicine one day and went to work at a multi-day folk festival the next day. It turned my head into a music train wreck... just like a lot of the shows on WFMU! :-D
  4:43am
Brick Van Dee:

This is amazing - Never heard the Bee Gees sound like this before!
  4:44am
Claire:

totally agree with Brick Van Dee
  4:44am
ausmanx:

i knew you'd have some somewhere, Julie! but yes, they're Manx, not English... not even Australian! as for Jello, just as well he cancelled his gig in Israel...
  4:44am
Julie:

something, isn't it? Whole different band
  4:45am
(-_-):

sounds like you had a Psychedelic time in London Julie.
  4:45am
Julie:

What is Manx? They are English, I think raised in Aus. Like Olivia.
  4:46am
Julie:

Yeah kinda in that head right now
  4:47am
(-_-):

just imagine sun cider, english countryside and something cheeky to paint the skies.
  4:47am
harveyjohn:

'Camper Van Bethoven'
  4:47am
ausmanx:

nope, born in the Isle of Man. then raised in Australia. like I said, the island's national day today. they have their own parliament, money, everything. they'd be horrified to hear you say they're English!
  4:48am
Julie:

Hmm..I know I looked them up too
  4:51am
ausmanx:

Maurice actually had the Manx flag draped on his coffin in Miami when he died!
  4:53am
Julie:

ah..parents were English. Oh well. I'd say they are tri-national.
  4:54am
helsingfred:

Manx - insane motorcycle race
  4:55am
ausmanx:

yeah, but only 60,000 people in the Isle of Man, so not many famous folk from there! not surprising they want to claim them
  4:55am
Claire:

Do you have the Screaming Headless Torsos cover of Something?
  4:56am
Julie:

No I don't know that one
  4:56am
Claire:

Bawww. It's great.
  5:00am
helsingfred:

Danielle - great stuff! Another nifty track is "Fizzing Human Bomb"
  5:00am
Julie:

Don't have it here, I'll keep an eye (ear) out though
  5:01am
Julie:

HF: There is very little Dax that is not wonderful :)
  5:02am
helsingfred:

  5:04am
Julie:

HF: OUCH
  5:09am
helsingfred:

J: Sorry! Don't crush that dwarf, hand me the pliers
  5:10am
Marmalade Kitty:

great set! (I was going to request;London Lady - Stranglers!)
Yeay strangelove!
  5:11am
Julie:

Ooh I don't know that one MK, but I did play the Stranglers
  5:11am
Julie:

I do have some Manchester coming up as well :)
  5:16am
Julie:

Ah...The Bee Gees are listed on a list of "Manchester bands" no wonder I was confused
  5:16am
Marmalade Kitty:

The bass playing in - And Also The Trees, sounds alot like John Jaques burnel - Stranglers
  5:17am
Julie:

Hmm I don't know who is in that band, but it's the same era
  5:17am
ausmanx:

sadly I guess there aren't any lists of "Manx bands". although Rod Stewart lived there for a while too!
  5:18am
Adam in Portland:

Hey, Julie! Just settling in for the night, and enjoying the show. Randomly met Scharpling, "Hatch," and Puloma on the streets of Portland last night. Sweet sweethearts! Live and love WFMU. <3
  5:19am
Marmalade Kitty:

Julie It was Grrrrrrrrrreat having you in Manchester !!!
  5:20am
helsingfred:

Maybe I was away from the radio but... what is today's theme? Just sort of the British Isles? I guess it would make sense... New Jersey... Jersey... :)
  5:20am
Julie:

MK It was great being there!
  5:21am
Julie:

HF: In honor of my trip to england and independence day..it's English..with a drop of Manx apparently
  5:22am
helsingfred:

Oh my well then I hope you have a bit of Twiggy! :)
  5:26am
Julie:

only if she's from Manchester that's my next set
  5:31am
helsingfred:

Hmm wikipedia says "the northwest London suburb of Neasden"... 'twould be a bit of a stretch to consider it Mancunian
  5:33am
helsingfred:

Did everyone have a chance to grill dead animals and blow stuff up?
  5:33am
Julie:

Then everything I read about the BG's says something different. I surrender. Let's call them aussies.
  5:34am
Marmalade Kitty:

Morrissey said Manc-fester, during his glastonbury performance this year, and was rude to his fans and U2 :D
  5:35am
ausmanx:

Morrissey was born in the Isle of Man too, of course...
  5:36am
Julie:

Hear that? That's me banging my head on the console
  5:37am
Marmalade Kitty:

I am NOT Mancunian btw :) (of course you know that ;)
  5:37am
Julie:

Lancashire he was born there, wherever that is.
  5:38am
Marmalade Kitty:

Manchester is in Lancashire.. Morrissey born in IOM, are you sure..??
  5:39am
Julie:

wiki says Lancashire
  5:39am
ausmanx:

manchester used to be part of lancashire, before Thatcher messed that up like she messed up everything else... only joking about morrissey, but trust me on the Gibbs!
  5:39am
Julie:

Smiths have always been known as a manchester band, regardless
  5:40am
helsingfred:

I've always believed that Wonderwall would become a modern classic, on a par with the best of the Beatles... but it hasn't happened
  5:40am
Julie:

pardon me while I throw a gibb & gallagher brother in your general direction
  5:40am
Julie:

I've always liked this song.
  5:40am
(-_-):

thank god for that!
  5:41am
Julie:

We don't even have this record here
  5:41am
chris from england:

smiths are a massive manchester band.....bumped into Johnny Marr the other day at a festival. He's a really nice bloke!
  5:41am
ausmanx:

Gallaghers are deadly weapons, Julie!
  5:41am
Marmalade Kitty:

Tunes!
  5:41am
Julie:

  5:46am
