Listener comments!

  3:02am
Adam from Lynnwood, Washington:

Radio hang-outs with Woody and Julie are a great way to end my Monday eves.
  3:03am
Matt from Springfield:

The Beating Goes On...I suppose you're feeling "whipped" after two weeks of marathon? Feel like being "whisked" away to somewhere else?
  3:09am
Matt from Springfield:

Oh wow...I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness! On the Secretly Canadian label! Where did you find this? It's perfect for Dark Night!
  3:09am
Julie:

Found it online somewhere! And I figured I was the one doing the beating :)
  3:11am
fred:

Good morning Julie.
Adam, these shows work quite well to start my Tuesday mornings. My main problem then is to manage to stop listening and leave for work.
  3:15am
Matt from Springfield:

Occasionally I find great gems online as well.
I heard you announced but didn't see you with Meghan at the Hoof & Mouth video stream. Were you playing guitar with her? Did you help her pick out Mazzy Star? :)
  3:17am
Julie:

I was there, not saying what I was doing ;) She picked it out doing a fill-in for me, but I'd played that song on here too.
  3:17am
Julie:

I hit a LOT of music blogs. That's my hobby these days.
  3:21am
Matt from Springfield:

The mystery persists...
Oooooh! SS's "Jolene"! I'd suggested that since you play SS, and Dolly's Jolene! Thanks for this goth cover--the video is visually striking.
  3:22am
Julie:

I don't think I've played ONJ's Jolene yet. That's the first version I ever knew.
  3:22am
coalhard:

here is a gem------------http://www.myvidster.com/video/1205782/5-Minute_Chocolate_Cake---you have to see video thank me later
  3:24am
Matt from Springfield:

More people have sung Jolene than I thought, didn't know 'Livvy" recorded it. It's funny, because I just heard Dolly's "Dumb Blonde" for the first time this weekend, this continues the trend!
  3:27am
Matt from Springfield:

@CH: Thank you. Later, by 5 minutes.
  3:28am
coalhard:

part of my link cut off expand window--type correct
  3:29am
Matt from Springfield:

There's a tool called the Bakepacker, where you can bake any number of things over a campfire. Chocolate cake mix in a plastic bag when you're in the middle of nowhere--it's actually better when the center remains gooey, makes it's own icing!
  3:31am
Julie:

Man stop talking about chocolate cake! Sounds like the perfect late night snack. All I have is a granola bar and diet dr. pepper
  3:35am
Matt from Springfield:

Diet Dr Pepper is good--nowadays it is. Apparently they first tried a diet formula in the 70s, and it was so terrible they dropped it for 15 years, then had a huge ad blitz in the 90s to promote their new, improved formula.
  3:36am
Julie:

Actually the kind I had as a kid was the saccharin based, and that's what I was used to. Took a long time for me to get used to the new version.
  3:38am
fred:

Wow! Thanks Julie! That's one of my fave Juliana Hatfield songs.
  3:39am
coalhard:

go to my link learn how to make cake in less than 5 mins--fantastic!
  3:39am
Julie:

Cool!
  3:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Ha, we were just talking about artificial sweetners on Irwin's playlist!
I was lookin' up Joy Division albums when I saw "Unknown Pleasures"--apparently that was their first studio album, followed only by "Closer" after Ian Curtis' suicide. All these other albums by JD are comps.
  3:48am
coalhard:

repeating link---https://www.myvidster.com/video/1205783/5-Minute_Chocolate_Cake-----use caps a needed!!!
  3:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: But I'm not!
What?! Are you crazy?! Are you seriously NOT getting Julie's great premium "Dark Matter"!! Or at least any of the other unique, amazing premiums offered by our DJs?! Then why are you listening!! Pledge dammit!
  3:53am
coalhard:

there is a whole bunch of obscure stuff from 70's been waiting to listen
  3:54am
Matt from Springfield:

A WFMU-specific version of Chicago's "Beginnings".
Heard that before, couldn't recall the title until he sang it.
  3:56am
marcus:

hey julie - you seem to be the most active twittering person of the wfmu staff (since I following them all :)) - so nice to listen to your show this tuesday morning (in germoney) - well - I am not sure if it's ok to post a link to an obscure postpunk record right here: http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2007/04/autopilot-love-is-process-ep7-ep1979uk.html - - The titlesong is just great! cheers.
  3:58am
coalhard:

such as jo jo gunne and others
  3:59am
Julie:

@Marcus that's fine. Yeah I Never shut up on twitter
  4:03am
coalhard:

i don't do twitter--i would rather stay hidden
  4:04am
Matt from Springfield:

Great Lau Nau--natural percussion and pretty (language-less) vocals.
  4:06am
Julie:

Yes! Isn't she fantastic!
  4:08am
coalhard:

the gov watches twitter--they ignore website chat--feel safe here
  4:08am
Matt from Springfield:

Absolutely--as is this (other Finnish?) Mindness.

Daylight Savings has got me wrecked--I shouldn't really be up now, and this pretty music of yours may have finally done me in. Glad we could help you keep this soundtrack up another year!
  4:09am
Julie:

I think that was Latvian
  4:09am
Matt from Springfield:

@CH: Only cause they're too lame to go on to FMU's AccuPlaylists! But what you type here stays forever--thanks to the comments I'm 2 of only 3 links to the phrase "marijuana and carrots" on Google!
Oops, 3 of 4 now!
  4:11am
Julie:

I have the power to delete comments. I am all-powerful comment master.
  4:11am
coalhard:

  4:11am
Julie:

  4:12am

  5:00am
Tim Serpas:

Hello!
  5:02am
Julie:

Howdy! Now I know two people are listening!
  5:11am
coalhard:

i have to go ---i have 1 sperm left and my wife took her eggs and biscuits to bed
  5:19am
Binky:

Huh! I thought I knew The Church, but this song doesn't sound like them to me at all. But I like.
  5:20am
Julie:

Sounds kinda like Ray Davies to me now hearing them next to each other
  5:33am
marcus:

awesome mashup! :D
  5:33am
Julie:

Yay someone likes it!
  5:36am
marcus:

  5:45am
el greco:

Good on ya, playing old-skool Greek punk. SO many great 80s greek bands. Heard of The Last Drive?
  5:47am

  5:51am

  5:58am
cz-kluk:

  6:13am
Julie:

  4:04pm
tlw:

That Kristeen Young song is like if you crossed Tori Amos with Jarboe.
  12:41am
Matt from Springfield:

Kristeen, Kate, The Church, and a tribute to DJ Keili's "Knock Out Eileen" performance--I loved that! In fact, Keili and the Hoof & Mouth may be the first people to ever perform a mash-up live, might be a historic moment!
  7:53pm
uldis:

Thank you! U are the only one, who has song 'mindness- ja teiktu'!!! I was looking for it more than 10 years. Finally found it :)
  8:32pm
uldis:

Could you be so nice and send it to my e-mail? I would be very glad. Thanx anyway.
