  12:09pm
don:

tamar, rocking set thusfar. i was on a bus from montreal to new york last weekend - was riding next to a pair of hyperactive children.. 8 hours of "mom... mom... MOM! ..dad.. DADDY!! ARE WE THERE YET?!"
  12:09pm
Marco:

I loved the inter national version of downtown:) I couldn't understand it but I liked it:-)
  12:10pm

What's Swahili for "the long-haired woman who does not click?"
  12:12pm
Parq:

Vicki's season finale of Do or DIY included two different foreign versions of Downtown (both recorded by Pet Clark herself) followed by Mrs. Miller's (!) version. Good times. Speaking of season finales, Miss Tamar, I am glad to be here and will sorely miss your show.
  12:15pm
annie:

b/p- i was thinking something along those lines and wondering how ms makeba would have reacted to that..
  12:17pm
Woody:

Nice start to a show... this "Calypso Funk" is rocking!
  12:21pm
still b/p:

Imagine, annie, how disturbing, comical and crash-certain it would've been if she HAD tried to mimic the dialect. Must find outtakes.
  12:23pm
Tamar:

Hi Peoples. I'm going to miss the show too, but at this point, I can only do the summer schedule. Back for fill-ins.
  12:32pm
Dale from North Dakota:

I was saddened to see you off the fall schedule, Tamar, but can appreciate that you can't do this all year long, and will be happy to get a fill in show here and there until next summer!
  12:34pm
slugluv1313:

WOW just tuning in, i *must* listen to the archives for that Cher song (is this, perchance, on the same album where she covered Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come" with truly BIZARRE results?) . . . gotta track down a copy of that "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" soundtrack too . . . for these reasons and SO many more, i am going to miss your show too, Tamar! THANK YOU for a WONDER-FULL summer, have an AWESOME fall and please keep us posted about when you do fill-ins!
  12:37pm
Julie:

no more Tamar? I didn't catch that :( Well, lots of archives!
  12:38pm
slugluv1313:

  1:01pm
Julie:

I always assumed it was Cur-ree, not "curry".. I thought I was the only one who liked the Currie sisters :) Guilty pleasure.
  1:01pm
Marco:

I'd live on the 14 floor of a high rise if it got me away from 14 screaming little girls!
  1:08pm
seang:

  1:12pm
chris:

Hugh Masakela singing on this? Wow, good stuff.
  1:45pm

  1:45pm

  1:45pm

  1:51pm
Marco:

Well at least Bryce is still on the schedule?
  1:52pm
Listener David in Budd Lk:

Tamar!! It's been great listening to your show all Summer. Gonna miss not hearing you this Winter. You and Dickie need to do a show together again like your past Sat morning fill ins for GKS. They were wonderfully twisted. Have a great year!
  1:53pm
Looms:

Tamar, you're doing a great job once again. Thanks for all these most enjoyable summer shows!
  1:57pm
annie:

i hear a grilled cheese sandwich calling my name.. sounds serious...
  2:05pm
Looms:

  2:23pm
Looms:

These old lovely love songs always make me melt. Just can't help it.
  2:25pm
Robert:

Love from Poland.
  2:25pm
Parq:

I'd recommend checking out an album by Marianne Faithful called "20th Century Blues". Recorded in the 90s in a Paris nightclub, it consists mostly of Weimar-era songs, with a few later ones that reflect the influece of that era. It includes several Weil/Brecht songs, newly translated by a fine Irish poet.
  2:27pm
Looms:

Interesting. Thx Parq!
  2:35pm
listener gary:

sorry to hear you are going "off" for the winter. This summer schedule has been really strong on Thursday. I'll miss your voice and music but will watch for the fill ins. Best of luck in class.
  2:39pm
Julie:

Kinks!! Tamar rules!
  2:43pm

I will add my voice to the thank you's. You really are great.
  2:52pm
Cecile:

Oooh, Parq, that's a great album. I reviewed that for spinonline about, yikes, 12 years ago.
  2:53pm
Cecile:

And, let me add my voice to the chorus, great job Tamar. Hope to see you around soon!
  2:56pm
seang:

if you wanna know if he loves you so (it's in his kiss)
  2:57pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Thanks for another great show, Tamar, and take care until we hear you again!
  2:57pm

Don't wanna say farewell but only goodbye. See you, Tamar!
