Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

May 4, 2010: Lord Davies and Heavy Friends: WHITE HILLS live set Mach 2!
Brooklyn's White Hills is frequently tagged as "space rock," and that's a fair enough starting point. But the band then layers in enough interesting elements - most notably a killer raw rock guitar sound that one reviewer non-ironically calls "Stoogewind" - so that non-heads (such as, ahem, your host) remain enthralled during even the longest jams. We figured three years was enough time for everyone's eardrums to recover from their previous appearance, so we're excited to welcome White Hills back to WFMU. They have a new self-titled release out now on Thrill Jockey.

Of course, she's away for a few days now, so it's all a weird flashback tonight. The music, come to think of it, is not at all a bad flashback soundtrack...

Looks like our trade has worked out for both of us so far :)
Btw, happy birthday to LJP from all us Funknatics, AZ :)
Danne D:
Btw, you should never use the description I gave for my loss in reference to your team name :)
Between us and Evan Funk, we have 4 of the top 5 teams in the league right here on the board (at least) tonight :) Though EFD's gonna start laying the smack down 8(
john:
The trade has worked out reasonably well for both of us, yes!
And Aharon, I'd heard there was someone out there who wanted Melky Cabrera. Certainly wasn't a major league team...
Aharon:
Danne (in sort of sticking with that theme), I'm just biding my time until August, when I can start Jake Fox at every position and blow everyone's mind.
Happy funking, all; back to work for me.

Farewell Funk Aficionados!

Michael, that Delta 5 spin was in direct response to a suggestion of yours from a few weeks ago!
