  11:20pm
john:

Hey Evan! Thanks for the reminder that once upon a time rap (heck, even guys who worked with Malcolm McLaren) was just about the most dynamic thing around. And that now everyone responsible for that is a member of the AARP.
  11:20pm
AZ:

First Driver, now the Reds: another A&M band I've never heard!
  11:22pm
efd:

AZ, and that one was produced by the OTHER in-house David - Kershenbaum.
  11:23pm

Oh my goodness, it is groundhog day, isn't it? That explains so much...

Vanda Young:

  11:52pm
efd:

goodnight, Cathy. I'll be back in 2 weeks, but I guess you'll be back in 3.
  12:17am
Danne D:

Hi there funk fans and friends :)
Happy Groundhog Day all (how some station hasn't caught on to doing a "Groundhog Day" marathon the way they do with "A Christmas Story" is beyond me, but that's another discussion.

Now's the time to start brown-bagging it for a few weeks people and checking the couches for change - marathon time is coming in but 4 weeks and Evan's gonna need to show that his Funk Army stands ready to deliver!!!
  12:18am
Danne D:

was contemplating working the phone for EFD's shift but who knows, maybe Toni/Cathy/et al will have all the lines covered :o)
  12:19am
Danne D:

Yay Dennis Diken!!

He's the only drummer I'll sing for (aside from EFD of course, though I haven't had the chance yet with EFD) :)
  12:19am
efd:

only if she's an octopus, Danne.

and good evening!
  12:22am
Danne D:

Around you, Evan, she just might be an octopus ;)
  12:29am
Michael from the Left Coast:

I think there are not only legal isssues but missing master tape issues.
  12:30am
AZ:

I think that's probably a question for Andrew Sandoval. He's the man for the job.
  12:30am
Danne D:

You can probably ask him Evan :) That might be a great interview for you:

http://www.tommyroe.com/The_Official_Tommy_Roe_Web_Site/Home.html
  12:31am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Evan if you don't ask him I will--Sweet Pea such a cool song
  12:33am
Aharon:

I know there's snow on the ground and the heavens above (and that this question might bespeak a problem) but is anyone else thinking about baseball?
  12:34am
Danne D:

The photos page on his website is fantastic, Evan.
And he has a link to a freaky youtube anime chop video made for "Dizzy" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq7wWN0H2g8&feature=player_embedded
  12:36am
Joe:

Always love it when EFD raids the new bin.

PS - just paid off my pledge and got your premium! It's really good! It might even have gotten better with age!
  12:37am
efd:

Aharon: absolutely! 2 weeks til pitchers and catchers!

Thanks everyone for the Tommy Roe info.... maybe we ALL should ask about a box set! I'd love to see him get the Sandoval treatment, if such a thing were possible.
  12:39am
efd:

to be honest, I won't miss you (or anyone else) next week, but I might miss you the week after that.
  12:41am
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD--now that Sandoval is a free agent (no longer with Rhino) it's more possible than it was for a Tommy Roe thing
  12:45am
Michael from the Left Coast:

I thought this was some Kirsty MacColl song I'd never heard before.
  12:46am
efd:

let's start a Facebook group! Isn't that what people do these days when they want something to happen? "1,000,000 Strong for a Tommy Roe box set!" :)
  12:47am
Danne D:

Aharon!!! I heard a rumor that you traded a winter scarf and a reindeer or a snowman to be named later - is that true!?!

Btw - I'm curious what the official EFD Super Bowl pick is :)
  12:49am
Danne D:

Here's a link to an excellent about a different, more notorious Tommy Rowe that I actually recently finished reading. (FBI Informant Inside the Klan - it does not go well)

http://www.amazon.com/Informant-Klux-Murder-Viola-Liuzzo/dp/0300106351/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265176097&sr=1-7
  12:49am
Sybil:

I was too busy doing prep for my classes to comment at the time, but:

I had not heard that Soft Tags song before, and, wow. A whole album about Mandelbrot?

(I'm too depressed over Yoyo's retirement to think about basebell. I hardly ever think about it, only seven times a day or so. ;P)
  12:52am
Sybil:

(Correction: OK, the album is all about math stuff- still, wow.)
  12:54am
Aharon:

Danne: I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. I will in turn exchange that hamburger for 16 French fries and an opened Heinz package that I have a feeling still contains some ketchup. And thus will I build my empire. (But if you've got a snowman, let's talk)

Sybil: a DOUBLE album, yet.
  12:54am
Michael from the Left Coast:

You left out Starbuck and Walter Murphy from the Private Stock collection of stars
  12:56am
Michael from the Left Coast:

And Frankie Valli too (I just remembered that one)
  12:58am
Danne D:

Aharon, I'm a little reluctant to part with one of my snowmen as that is the strongest part of my team. I also expect snowmen will be a bit harder to acquire as the sesason rolls along.
  1:02am
Aharon:

True, but I have it on reasonable authority that Billy Beane has an overlooked bucket of water he's planning on freezing some time in the near future-c'mon!

Just bought 2x copies of Mathematical Monsters. I'm a sucker for a CDBaby deal.
  1:05am
efd:

damn, that's at least the second time someone's bought that Soft Tags CD moments after hearing me play it! (looking at you, AZ!)
  1:06am
Joe B:

GREAT SEGUE!
  1:08am
efd:

thanks Joe!

and belated thanks, Other Joe, for the premium compliment!
  1:09am
efd:

(it was a total run-to-the-library-while-the-song-is-on segue, too. Luckily the 'S' section is near the studio door!)
  1:09am
Aharon:

You should think about playing infomercials, EFD. Oh, right: Harry Harrison. Gotta go join up.
  1:10am
ADM:

gotta say it. total yo la tengo this one.
  1:11am
Danne D:

would seem that the Soft Tags CD would be a great candidate for the prize block during Evan's marathon shows ;)

As for Aharon, I know Beane is a shrewd operator who gets a lot out of his talent, but I'd rather have the fully built snowman than have to rely on a new one that's not of proven construction.

Btw, I predict EFD takes out the brass knuckles with his team this season and shows us all what for.
  1:11am
Joe B:

For you San Fran folks, Orange Peels are playing Saturday at the Makeout Room
  1:12am
Joe B:

I don't know how you keep up with the comments EFD. Multi-tasking at its finest!
  1:13am
john:

Billy Beane is of the opinion that anyone can make a snowman, so you build your own and let them go in free agency.
  1:20am
Joe:

When Belock is in the house (or heezy), you can just refer to me as "Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo"
  1:21am
Aharon:

Okay, Danne, final offer: you get the computer I'm writing this on, I get the snowman. To ease the loss, I'll throw in a snowball, but it'll probably go off-course and end up hitting my grumpy neighbor in the back of the head.

I, too, have a new strategy if I'm honored enough to rejoin the fanball this coming year, which is to do the opposite of what I did last year. Not brass knuckles; maybe nougat.

And John, there were rumors that he was adding juice to the snow all along. Gotta say, it makes sense: I mean, the top globe on his best snowmen was larger than any of the other globes. Plus they were yellow.
  1:23am
Danne D:

Sorry Aharon - I heard there might be illicit ice sculptures hidden on that computer and I can't be a party to that! Sorry that yet again we are not able to work out a trade:(

Well while it's true that I can debate the merits of snowmen and their role in fantasy baseball, I must be going :)

Btw, while I am rooting for the Saints to win, I have a feeling the Colts will pull it out (at least the Jets aren't there).
Colts 38 Saints 27

So there you go :)

Have a good night Funk Friends!

To EFD, I'll check out for your Jimmy the Funkesque picks - see you in 2 weeks EFD!!
  1:32am
Joe:

This Paul White album is SICK. I give it the "Commenteer Joe" seal of approval.
  1:34am
efd:

duly noted, Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo!
  1:42am
Joshua K:

Now thats italian
  1:50am
Paolo:

Wow Evan, I was half asleep when the Italian rap song came on and it freaked me out cause I wasn't expecting it hehehe. Your Italian is pretty good :) I have to say I really enjoyed that last set. Anyways, good night, I have class in ~6 hours
  1:51am
Joe:

Ditto w/ Paulo

great shew
  1:52am
Aharon:

Great show. Background music constantly threatening to become foreground music.
  1:57am
efd:

thanks everyone! see you in 2 weeks.
  2:45pm
Broke Man:

I have decided not to listen to your show via the computer, i end up buying to much music
