Listener comments!

  11:06pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Faithful! :)
  11:11pm
pete:

EFD:

Listener Pete here. Just something to consider for tonight's show . . .

Instead of teasing us for the next eleven weeks by playing a single track off the Bare Wires LP, why not play the whole thing in its entirety? Just a thought to consider . . .
  11:11pm
Ike:

Awesome.

This is much more my speed than the usual opening cut suspects. Faust reigns.
  11:13pm
Danne D:

btw, EFD, i'll get an early vote in for #6
  11:14pm
efd:

hi everyone!

Pete, that's not a bad idea but I believe it's actually banned by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. But, I may let a couple of songs slip out on some weeks.
  11:17pm
efd:

I think it's safe to say you're not going to get a better song title than this all night.
  11:18pm
Joe:

I always wondered why FMU didn't play whole sides.

Also, Evan, you're totally pimping the wrong fest night. Friday will be vastly superior.
  11:18pm
Danne D:

excruiating wikipedia article on the DMCA:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millenium_Copyright_Act
  11:19pm
efd:

Joe, I'm just getting started!
  11:20pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

As someone who is familiar with the DMCA, I believe you can play four songs by the same artist in an hour. That's the maximum EFD
  11:21pm
efd:

thanks Michael, I was hoping you were out there and figured you'd have the scoop!
  11:22pm
Joe:

On the plus side, it saves us from even the specter of a shadow of a possibility of having to "get the Led out"
  11:22pm
Danne D:

And for you hardcore EFD and DMCA fans here's the actual act itself:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c105:H.R.2281.ENR:
  11:24pm
john:

Joe, that'll wait til next week, the first show in Rocktober.
  11:29pm
jair:

dude, youre music is flipping sweet
  11:30pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Danne are you trying to put everyone to sleep by suggesting they read the DMCA?!
EFD, I'm only here for a little while--I'm going to see a great hard rock band (like Armoured Saint or Judas Priest) called Angus Khan and then a band called Lubraphonic (a jam band sort of thing--it's for a friend's birthday).
And did I miss everyone wishing EFD a belated happy brithday
  11:30pm
Danne D:

This seems to be the relevant section.

Reading the act itself probably would make a good episode of 7-second delay
  11:31pm
G:

It's FestFest!
  11:32pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD--do we know who is in this lineup of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks that is playing the Fest? Beside Lydia of course
  11:33pm
Danne D:

Happy Belated Birthday EFD!!

*ponders getting him a gold plated copy of the DMCA except that it probably would weight like 1000 lbs* :)

If EFD's show has you keyed up too much and you have to get to sleep to get to work pick up the DMCA :)

Wow wonder what a best of EFD/DMCA box-set would go for on e-bay.
  11:35pm
Danne D:

EFD is like a cross between Dick Clark and Frank Sinatra - both ageless and timeless :D
  11:37pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

And don't forget he has power and influence like Clark and Sinatra (and no wig or plastic surgery either)
  11:38pm
Danne D:

yup yup
  11:39pm
efd:

we've got Fest Fever here at WFMU!

Michael, I believe the Jerks will be Al Kizys on bass and Jim Sclavunos on drums
  11:40pm
I'll See You and Raise You:

It's an EFD world, and you're just renting a space in it.
  11:40pm
Joe B:

That Vee Dee album is definitely one of the year's best. I was listening to it on the way into work yesterday, and a coworker I barely know said, 'What are you playing?" I didn't think 'Vee Dee' would go over too well int the workplace, so I paused and nodded my head like I didn't hear the question.
  11:40pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

That's great that Jim is doing it--please tell him I said hello if you see that show
  11:41pm
Danne D:

If WFMU were Dynamite magazine, EFD would be Leif Garrett
  11:42pm
Joe:

He's the Tom Scharpling of WFMU
  11:51pm
Danne D:

EFD always makes me hungry with his shows.
  11:51pm
Laurie:

This song is incredible.
  11:51pm
randy in NC:

EFD- I'm so glad you are playing this! It's so inane and a riot at the same time. It would go well with Cookie Puss.
  11:52pm
Chihuahua:

Yo, drop da chalupa.
  11:52pm
randy in NC:

Or maybe Hoagie Fest
  11:53pm
Joe:

finally, somebody has rhymed "smells" with "els". Greatest song ever of the week.

I am now leaving to go get some taco bell. It is -so- your fault.
  11:54pm
Danne D:

yeah :) this is awesome
and hiya Laurie :o)

There's a combination Pizza Hut and KFC on my way home on Route 1.

Maybe EFD's next marathon premium should be all food related. "Starting With The Calories"
  11:54pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, it's different. I'll give you that. I liked Square Bear on Benjamen Walker's show Monday morning.
  11:56pm
Danne D:

I swear to god I thought she was singing Cheeburger Cheeburger - which also is on Route 1
  11:57pm
efd:

all part of my plan to make you think I'm always playing songs about food!
  12:00am
Danne D:

lol :)

so this is the final week for the HHDYDTY fantasy baseball league :( It's been fun, even if I feel like I'm playing the role of Alydar, never to catch Ubergoober's Affirmed.
  12:03am
Michael from the Left Coast:

which was first the Hippy Hippy Shake or the Greasy Frog?
  12:05am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Actually now that I think of it Hippy Hippy Shake had to have been first because all the Brit bands were playing it in 1963
  12:18am
chaz:

ramones!!!!!!
  12:22am
Danne D:

this is sooooo emulating Joe Frank
  12:23am
Ken From Hyde Park:

That sounds a lot like Joe Frank to me, too.
  12:27am
Laurie:

Oh Evan, I don't need to hear a song about applications failing right now. :\
  12:28am
efd:

oh shoot, I wasn't thinking about *that* kind of application!
  12:28am
Joshua K:

Needs more guitar solos
  12:29am
Laurie:

Ha, it's okay. I just got confirmation today that two of the schools I'm applying to received my application.
  12:30am
efd:

Ken and Danne, I don't disagree; much of the rest of the CD is more straight comedy, but a fair number of tracks are not FCC-friendly
  12:32am
efd:

yay Laurie, that's a step in the right direction!
  12:37am
Joshua K:

I have to work Thursday night.... I wish I could go see Faust!! I wish WFMU would hold events in NJ
  12:41am
Laurie:

I just watched that Major Lazer "Pon de Floor" video directed by Eric Wareheim for, like, the 11th time. It changed my life.
  12:44am
Joshua K:

Did you see the Depeche Mode video he did? Looks like it was up for a day or two and now its set private. Go figure.
  12:45am
Laurie:

Really? I just watched it a few hours ago!
  12:46am
Laurie:

http://vimeo.com/6772569 Yep, it's still there.
  12:50am
Joshua K:

Weird. The youtube one is down. It had plenty of comments from fans of the band saying they hated it and fans of eric saying why did he do a video for them etc.
  12:50am
osvi:

You are the man, EFD! Enjoyed every one of those Bare Wire songs. Cant wait to hear that show w PJeans and TV Ghost! WFMU suckaz!
  12:56am
efd:

osvi, glad you enjoyed the Bare Wires! Just to clarify regarding the FMU Fest, those shows will NOT be broadcast or archived.
  1:01am
Kenzo:

Confession? I've read the DMCA.
  1:03am
Danne D:

You're a better man than I, Kenzo :)

I am sad to say that work will prevent me from making any of the shows 8(
  1:03am
Joshua K:

There should be a dramatic audio book reading of the DMCA. Would be a lot easier absorb.
  1:05am
Danne D:

Big Dennis Diken fan :)
  1:06am
Danne D:

Big Pablo Sandoval fan too (he just went yard). 5 different Barre Ks with HR's tonight.

congrats to you on your Sox, Evan, even if they are doomed.
  1:09am
Laurie:

Joshua: I think you'll find ONTD's commentary on the new Depeche Mode video much more enlightening: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/39633571.html

"NGL, though, I'd let the tattooed dude get it."

"ngl i would do them both" -- in regards to a couple of users' mutual love for Tim & Eric

ngl = not gonna lie
  1:20am
Danne D:

Hrm, wonder if they are named after the town in Illinois?
  1:38am
Danne D:

I'm fadin' - good night Funk Friends! Good night EFD!
  1:39am
efd:

'night, Danne. Good luck on the baseball front this week,
  1:41am
Danne D:

Thank you sir :) I'm gonna need all the luck I can muster!
