Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 18, 2024 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

They traded off, from one night to the next. The solos are mostly created by Tom, who improvised maybe more because of that. Richard Lloyd was no less astonishing though, AND he could replicate his own moves so closely that he multi-tracked his own guitar work almost flawlessly...you have to listen to where it goes out of phase....Television was by no means just Tom

Verlaine has the big solo. Lloyd plays that lead bit before the chorus, and that solo break that was a the end of part I

@Polyus. It's too bad about all these copyright laws and the greed displayed. There are many examples of TV series and motion pictures that had to replace the original music used on these projects when cable and/or network replays were broadcast. The same can be said for the videocassettes and DVDs that people either rented or purchased.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
StringOFperils:

There's some give and take in the histories of who owns what and/or whom. A lot of artists would never have any doors open for them without some frightening pirate fronting for them in the law-offices of the music industry. Tommy James said that Morris Levy probably owed him in excess of 50 million bucks, but he was okay with it, because without the thug there would never have been a Tommy James at all.

Yeah. I just watched a movie called 'Two Weeks Notice' from 2002. There was a version of a song in the film (I can't recall the song) that was not the original artist. And I thought, "This version of this song sucks." Then I remembered that they probably had to replace the song due to copyright and streaming services.
