	10:56am Jeff Golick: Sample q and a from the Tone Glow interview linked to above: It’s interesting to hear you mention other artists in your response. Do you feel like you hear yourself in your music at all? How much of yourself do you even want to be in the music? Does that matter? I believe that I’m always part of a lineage, whether I like it or not. So I have these two streams, the classical stream and the jazz stream. And I’m also interested in reggae, like Lee Perry. I want that confluence, I want to know how to combine all these different sounds to make my own. That’s how I approach music. Looking at Duke, I might think about his Latin Suite (1972), and then to get to my approach, I may think of the rumba in terms of dub style. Like, I may think of how King Tubby might do that, and then combine it with Stockhausen. I want to dip into all those streams at the same time.

Do you feel like you hear yourself in your music at all? How much of yourself do you even want to be in the music? Does that matter? I believe that I’m always part of a lineage, whether I like it or not. So I have these two streams, the classical stream and the jazz stream. And I’m also interested in reggae, like Lee Perry. I want that confluence, I want to know how to combine all these different sounds to make my own. That’s how I approach music. Looking at Duke, I might think about his Latin Suite (1972), and then to get to my approach, I may think of the rumba in terms of dub style. Like, I may think of how King Tubby might do that, and then combine it with Stockhausen. I want to dip into all those streams at the same time.
