I have a very close friend who was an ethical vegetarian forever, but a bit lazy about it -- lived on pizza and Jamba Juice until he needed heart surgery. He's doing a lot better now, but one hurdle that he can't get over is breaking the small sustainable fish barrier even though his cardiologist told him to. Eating out has always been a challenge for him. When we were dating a zillion years ago I remember trying to make Valentine's Day dinner rezzies (F that worst night to eat out) and NOPLACE had vegetarian main option; it was bananas. I had to explain to one place that clams were not vegetables....

Yesterday (content warning, it is a bit negative), I came across someone who brought up a horrible news story about a protest happening in France (related to ecology). and the discussion (it was on some streamer's chat) started about ecological issues, and though the people participating are concerned about ecology, they were talking about those who absolutely do not give a **** . It made me (once again) so sick and depressed the whole night and this morning. So hearing you talk in that way @Trouble, and you all here (and I am only focusing on the positive and what we can agree on for now) is such a relief and extremely needed to maintain some hope (especially for someone like me who lives in a region where +40°c almost all summer and droughts are the standard now). Even more coming from people living in the US... I am stopping here otherwise it will be even longer than this, but please keep being aware of these issues and doing everything you can 💚

I have a very close friend who was an ethical vegetarian forever, but a bit lazy about it -- lived on pizza and Jamba Juice until he needed heart surgery. He's doing a lot better now, but one hurdle that he can't get over is breaking the small sustainable fish barrier even though his cardiologist told him to. Eating out has always been a challenge for him. When we were dating a zillion years ago I remember trying to make Valentine's Day dinner rezzies (F that worst night to eat out) and NOPLACE had vegetarian main option; it was bananas. I had to explain to one place that clams were not vegetables....

Yesterday (content warning, it is a bit negative), I came across someone who brought up a horrible news story about a protest happening in France (related to ecology). and the discussion (it was on some streamer's chat) started about ecological issues, and though the people participating are concerned about ecology, they were talking about those who absolutely do not give a **** . It made me (once again) so sick and depressed the whole night and this morning. So hearing you talk in that way @Trouble, and you all here (and I am only focusing on the positive and what we can agree on for now) is such a relief and extremely needed to maintain some hope (especially for someone like me who lives in a region where +40°c almost all summer and droughts are the standard now). Even more coming from people living in the US... I am stopping here otherwise it will be even longer than this, but please keep being aware of these issues and doing everything you can 💚
