You'll get no judgment from me,
I can only feel compassion.
And if that's what you need,
I will give you my compassion.
Just don't forget about me
'cause we all need some compassion.
Open up your heart
So you can start to feel compassion.
Everybody needs compassion.
If you want to be healed
Then you know you got to feel compassion.

A sweet afternoon of cats, community, and gentle music, presented by Amanda and Jim of Bad Animals. Join volunteers from local NJ cat rescue groups (including WFMU regular Kathleen O’Malley!) to learn about the kitties they have up for adoption. Up to 20 cats will be in the room to greet their adoring public, and WFMU DJs Olivia, Faye and Bryce will be spinning mellow, cat-friendly tunes.
With Kitties From:
– Hudson County Animal League (HCAL)
– Tiny Tigers NJ Rescue
– Jersey Cats
– Companion Animal Trust (CAT)

R.E.M. covered this tune very nicely. Mike Mills on lead vocals.
www.youtube.com...
In the early 80's when I worked with Strate A's (A Port Jervis new wav-ish power pop band) I suggested we cover The Troggs version during our live showcases in NYC. They chose not to.
Another missed opportunity as the song did well for R.E.M.

Very pleased to present An Evening with Sneakers on June 21, 2024, in Gas Hill Drinking Room! Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM.
Tickets are on sale NOW at TheRamkat.com!
In 1976, Sneakers (Mitch Easter, Rob Slater, & Chris Stamey (guitars), Will Rigby (drums), and Robert Keely (bass)) released an influential six-song EP, engineered by Don Dixon. The duo of Easter and Stamey followed this with the albums "In the Red" and
"Racket." Stamey and Rigby would go on to form The dB's and Easter would reappear in Let's Active - but the Sneakers EP remains vital not only to independent record history but also to guitar-pop music in general.
This summer, for selected dates, Easter, Stamey, and Rigby will be joined by Gene Holder (also from the dB's) on electric bass. #sneakers #gashilldrinkingroom #wsnc #supportlivemusic #indierock #letsactive #thedbs

Waiter...There are snails all over my shed
It's that time of year when the Gyspy Moth caterpillars (yes I still call them that as my partial Hungarian lineage is not offended in any way by the name) climb up anything they can, house included, to get to the leafy trees to eat. The silks are everywhere & creep me out walking from the deck to the driveway walking through them.
As for the snails (slugs) heavy rains like we had yesterday drive them out of the grass & onto higher surfaces until things dry out some.
It's natures way, it's natures way....Spirit (McCartney borrowed this for some early solo songs)

I have read that you can take some foil tape (used for ductwork seams, not cloth duct tape) & wrap it around the tree trunk about a foot or so off the ground, going up a foot or two, theory being they can't cling to it to climb up into the tree. I've never tried it as my tress are about 4 feet around or larger
Good luck.

Also the caterpillars that are already up in the trees eating like to drop their little black poop pellets to the world below. It lasts a few weeks usually, until they start to cocoon, making sitting on the deck rather un-enjoyable, but...what are you gonna do?

Nonetheless this is maybe the BEST administration in fifty or sixty years, best FTC under Lina Khan, best NLRB, debt cancellation has been huge, great messaging in favor of unions, etc. I’m Voting For Joe. It’s absolutely a drag, his continued support for the atrocities committed against civilians in Gaza is heinous and will be a shame if it contributes to an election loss.

I watched a good doc on Hulu called Brian Jones & The Stones. A lot of interview time with Bill Wyman who was closest to Brian.
I still have a Fostex cassette demo made in Vanessa Carlton's home of her doing "Paint It Black". Age 14 or 15 if I remember.
She's amazingly talented. Her Dad wanted me to book her when she was 16. I told him I couldn't possibly put her in the dives I was booking my blues bands in 93
