I work indoors, so its morning rtea. Smoko is the for the workshop folks, and is a bit earlier. And they don't do coffee. They are basically having a meal hahahaa! Commensurate with their physical exertions.

They take a break on building sites etc after a couple of hours, smoko.
Ciggies, but a lot of weed smoked on building sites too, chippies (carpenters) especially.
Avatar 6:41pm
laurapanic:

↳ Bob Barth @6:38
nah, its the Aussie slang for when workers got a morning cigarette break. "Time for smoko!" And now it just really refers to the morning break, around 9am, enjoyed by those in trades/construction/manufacturing type jobs.

↳ Scott_Oz @6:45
aaaah, yes! more slang for Bob. Beer o'clock is the time it is "appropriate" to commence drinking for the day. The actual time is flexible, depending on circumstance. For instance, on holidays, beer o'clock may be, 1pm. Or 9am! When working, one may comment that "gee, it must be close to beer o'clock" which would refer to the end of the work day.

I bought a Who compilation as a kid, took it home to play it, and found out to my shock that it included a "single" edit of this song. Not the full-length album version. Marched right back and returned it.
