Hm. Were just talking about how Horror (in October) may or may not be Cathartic - as Tragedy & Theatre hopefully were. They say Shakespeare reflected his time when the World View was, for instance, between Magick & Science in many ways. & that Society was trying to define itself. He in turn referenced other History... The Greeks ? They were only trying to establish Western Consciousness itself I suppose...

Like Philomena Cunk said in the Greek Tragedies, "the Birth of Western Civilization was born in Greece" - redundancy humo(u)r of course and contradicts what she said earlier about Mesopotamia, but I think actually reflects the idea that the Greeks were first to be consciously "Western" out of the traditions they inherited from elsewhere.

Sure. In fact - being into Hermetic Metaphysics - I like to spotlight how much Ancient Greece was still rooted in a more such Worldview - Eleusinian Mysteries & the like. How Other than our Post-Enlightenment 'West' they were. Tho there was that cluster of ~500 BCE Philosophers who really got down with that heavy thinking (about the time of the Buddha in Asia too as it happens...)
