Clay..we got the last course of TV Repair taught at DeVry Tech in NJ in 1980 or so.
I became interested in electronic repair thanks to old Vince who had a TV repair shop a half a block from my home.
I used to hang there & just watch him work. Nice man.
Next door was my first job at 10 years old working for Sam the Barber sweeping hair off the barbershop floor.

Here's the band I worked with Strate A's from Port Jervis,NY (That's a party town);
L-R :
Shaun Cronin: Bass & Vocals (now a prison psychologist in Upstate NY.
Robert Eurich: Lead Guitar songwriter & vocals; now retired but manages the website he created in '99 called portjervisNY.com
Nick Babey: Drums; now living in NC & working as an electronics engineer.
Will Hoppey; Band leader, main songwriter, lead vocalist & rhythm guitar; working musician full time (still) since age 15 (now 65)
Band got close to being signed a few times. Didn't happen..Dem's da breaks :) Lot's of good times playing the NYC clubs in the early 80's. Band folded after 3 years.
I ran sound, took photos (this one is in a Port Jervis NY Middle School classroom), moved gear, did promo work and wrote song lyrics where needed.

Our house was the house he had built in the 20's. We lived downstairs G&G lived upstairs and there was a bay that stuck out into our driveway.
Well Gramps would back out slowly (thank god) with his 64 Rambler (with fins) and bump the bay overhang.
After several of those we we convinced him that driving was no longer his thing

That can be very scary for all involved.
It's a tough thing to ask a person who has driven all thier life to suddenly surrender their license (for their own & others safety) but it does become necessary.

I used to hide out in his bread truck so I didn't have to go to school :)
