there are traditions of sea shanties that fall under what musicologists would place under 'folk' moniker, so, it's perfect.(many folk bands (especially british) usually have quite a few sea shanties in their repertoire.

I read a funny Mudhoney anecdote about the Singles soundtrack. the Singles sopundtrack went platinum. Mudhoney's major label debut sold 100,00 copies. The guys in Mudhoney decided that meant that there were 900,000 Singles soundtrack fans who did not like Mudhoney.
